It is recommended that you set your screen resolution to 1024 by 768 pixels. 11. 2 Accounts The Prestige has two pre-configured accounts to access the web configurator. The first is the user account that lets you configure the Prestige's basic settings. The second is an administrator's account that allows you to alter the way the Prestige makes and receives calls, for example selecting a voice codec. Note: Do not attempt to change the administrator settings unless you understand what you are doing. These settings affect the way your Prestige makes and receives calls and are already configured for best performance. 11. 2. 1 Login 1 Make sure your Prestige is connected to the wireless LAN and record its IP address (you can use the Information menu to check your phone's IP address). 3 Type "http://<IP address>" as the URL (where "IP address" is the Prestige's IP address). If your networks are isolated from the Internet, for instance, only between your two branch offices, you can assign any IP addresses to the hosts without problems. However, the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) has reserved the following three blocks of IP addresses specifically for private networks. Table 6 Private IP Address Ranges 10. 0. 0. 0 172. 16. 0. 0 192. 168. 0. 0 10. 255. 255. 255 172. 31. 255. 255 192. 168. 255. 255 Chapter 12 User Web Configurator Screens 73 P-2000W_V2 User's Guide You can obtain your IP address from the IANA, from an ISP or have it assigned by a private network. If you belong to a small organization and your Internet access is through an ISP, the ISP can provide you with the Internet addresses for your local networks. On the other hand, if you are part of a much larger organization, you should consult your network administrator for the appropriate IP addresses. [. . . ] When Intra-BSS is disabled, wireless station A and B can still access the wired network but cannot communicate with each other. Appendix D Wireless LANs 121 P-2000W_V2 User's Guide Figure 41 Basic Service Set ESS An Extended Service Set (ESS) consists of a series of overlapping BSSs, each containing an access point, with each access point connected together by a wired network. This wired connection between APs is called a Distribution System (DS). The Access Points not only provide communication with the wired network but also mediate wireless network traffic in the immediate neighborhood. All access points and their associated wireless stations within the same ESS must have the same ESSID in order to communicate. 122 Appendix D Wireless LANs P-2000W_V2 User's Guide Figure 42 Infrastructure WLAN Channel A channel is the radio frequency(ies) used by IEEE 802. 11a/b/g wireless devices.
