DESCRIPTION
Select Enable from the drop down box to enable Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP). Select Disable to not use LACP.
System Priority
LACP system priority is a number between 1 and 65, 535. The switch with the lowest system priority (and lowest port number if system priority is the same) becomes the LACP "server". Enter a number to set the priority of an active port using Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP). Select a trunk group ID and then select whether to Enable or Disable Group Link Aggregation Control Protocol for that trunk group. The field identifies the link aggregation group, that is, one logical link containing multiple ports. This field displays if the group has LACP enabled.

Loop Guard
Use the Loop Guard screen (Section 14. 3 on page 83) to configure the Switch to guard against loops on the edge of your network. Loop guard allows you to configure the Switch to shut down a port if it detects that packets sent out on that port loop back to the Switch. While you can use Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) to prevent loops in the core of your network. STP cannot prevent loops that occur on the edge of your network.

14. 2 What You Need to Know
Loop guard is designed to handle loop problems on the edge of your network. This can occur when a port is connected to a Switch that is in a loop state. It happens when two ports on a switch are connected with the same cable. When a switch in loop state sends out broadcast messages the messages loop back to the switch and are re-broadcast again and again causing a broadcast storm. If a switch (not in loop state) connects to a switch in loop state, then it will be affected by the switch in loop state in the following way:
GS1510 Series User's Guide
81
Chapter 14 Loop Guard · It will receive broadcast messages sent out from the switch in loop state. · It will receive its own broadcast messages that it sends out as they loop back. When broadcast or multicast packets leave port N and reach switch B, they are sent back to port N on A as they are rebroadcast from B.

The loop guard feature checks to see if a loop guard enabled port is connected to a switch in loop state. This is accomplished by periodically sending a probe packet and seeing if the packet returns on the same port. If this is the case, the Switch will shut down the port connected to the switch in loop state. The following figure shows a loop guard enabled port N on switch A sending a probe packet P to switch B. Since switch B is in loop state, the probe packet P returns to port N on A. The Switch then shuts down port N to ensure that the rest of the network is not affected by the switch in loop state.

The Switch also shuts down port N if the probe packet returns to switch A on any other port. [. . . ] ZyXEL further reserves the right to make changes in any products described herein without notice. This publication is subject to change without notice.
