You should have at least a basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking concepts and topology. Related Documentation · Web Configurator Online Help Embedded web help for descriptions of individual screens and supplementary information. · Command Reference Guide The Command Reference Guide explains how to use the Command-Line Interface (CLI) and CLI commands to configure the Switch. It is recommended you use the web configurator to configure the Switch. · Supporting Disk Refer to the included CD for support documents. [. . . ] This is the path cost from the root port on this Switch to the root switch. This is the priority and number of the port on the Switch through which this Switch must communicate with the root of the Spanning Tree. A configuration digest is generated from the VLAN-MSTI mapping information. This field displays the 16-octet signature that is included in an MSTP BPDU. This is the unique identifier for this bridge, consisting of bridge priority plus MAC address. This ID is the same for Root and Our Bridge if the Switch is the root switch. This is the path cost from the root port in this MST instance to the regional root switch. The Peak Information Rate (PIR) is the maximum bandwidth allowed for the incoming traffic flow on a port when there is no network congestion. The CIR and PIR should be set for all ports that use the same uplink bandwidth. When network congestion occurs, packets through the ingress port exceeding the CIR will be marked for drop. The CIR should be less than the PIR. The sum of CIRs cannot be greater than or equal to the uplink bandwidth. 12. 2 Bandwidth Control Setup Click Advanced Application > Bandwidth Control in the navigation panel to bring up the screen as shown next. Use this row only if you want to make some settings the same for all ports. Use this row first to set the common settings and then make adjustments on a port-by-port basis. Note: Changes in this row are copied to all the ports as soon as you make them. The Switch loses these changes if it is turned off or loses power, so use the Save link on the top navigation panel to save your changes to the non-volatile memory when you are done configuring. Broadcast storm control limits the number of broadcast, multicast and destination lookup failure (DLF) packets the Switch receives per second on the ports. When the maximum number of allowable broadcast, multicast and/or DLF packets is reached per second, the subsequent packets are discarded. Enable this feature to reduce broadcast, multicast and/or DLF packets in your network.
