Refer to this section each time the panel needs to be removed and installed. 1. Bolt Checking the spark plugs The spark plugs are important engine components, which should be checked periodically, preferably by a Yamaha dealer. Since heat and deposits will cause any spark plug to slowly erode, they should be removed and checked in accordance with the periodic maintenance and lubrication chart. In addition, the condition of the spark plugs can reveal the condition of the engine. The porcelain insulator around the center electrode of each spark plug should be a medium-to-light tan (the ideal color when the vehicle is ridden normally), and all spark plugs installed in the engine should have the same color. If any spark plug shows a distinctly different color, the engine could be defective. If a spark plug shows signs of electrode erosion and excessive carbon or other deposits, it should be replaced. Specified spark plug: NGK/CR9EK 6-5 6 1. Place the panel in the original position, and then install the bolt. Panel A To remove the panel 1. Install the seat. PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND MINOR REPAIR Before installing a spark plug, the spark plug gap should be measured with a wire thickness gauge and, if necessary, adjusted to specification. EAU32850 NOTE: If a torque wrench is not available when installing a spark plug, a good estimate of the correct torque is 1/41/2 turn past finger tight. However, the spark plug should be tightened to the specified torque as soon as possible. ECA10840 Engine oil and oil filter cartridge The engine oil level should be checked before each ride. In addition, the oil must be changed and the oil filter cartridge replaced at the intervals specified in the periodic maintenance and lubrication chart. Place the vehicle on a level surface and hold it in an upright position. NOTE: Make sure that the vehicle is positioned straight up when checking the oil level. Start the engine, warm it up for several minutes, and then turn it off. [. . . ] Alternatively, turn the wheels a little every month in order to prevent the tires from becoming degraded in one spot. Cover the muffler outlets with plastic bags to prevent moisture from entering them. Do not store the battery in an excessively cold or warm place [less than 0 °C (30 °F) or more than 30 °C (90 °F)]. NOTE: Make any necessary repairs before storing the motorcycle. 7-4 7 SPECIFICATIONS Dimensions: Overall length: 2095 mm (82. 5 in) Overall width: 755 mm (29. 7 in) Overall height: 1085 mm (42. 7 in) Seat height: 795 mm (31. 3 in) Wheelbase: 1440 mm (56. 7 in) Ground clearance: 145 mm (5. 71 in) Minimum turning radius: 2800 mm (110. 2 in) Engine oil: Type: SAE10W30 or SAE10W40 or SAE15W40 or SAE20W40 or SAE20W50 -20 -10 0 10 20 30 40 50 °C Fuel: Recommended fuel: Regular unleaded gasoline only Fuel tank capacity: 19. 4 L (5. 13 US gal) (4. 27 Imp. gal) Fuel reserve amount: 3. 6 L (0. 95 US gal) (0. 79 Imp. gal) SAE 10W-30 SAE 10W-40 SAE 15W-40 SAE 20W-40 SAE 20W-50 Electronic fuel injection: Manufacturer: MIKUNI Model: 36EIDW x 2 Spark plug(s): Manufacturer/model: NGK/CR9EK Spark plug gap: 0. 60. 7 mm (0. 0240. 028 in) Weight: With oil and fuel: 201. 0 kg (443 lb) Engine: Engine type: Liquid cooled 4-stroke, DOHC Cylinder arrangement: Forward-inclined parallel 4-cylinder Displacement: 600. 0 cm³ (36. 61 cu. in) Bore × stroke: 65. 5 × 44. 5 mm (2. 58 × 1. 75 in) Compression ratio: 12. 20 :1 Starting system: Electric starter Lubrication system: Wet sump Recommended engine oil grade: API service SE, SF, SG type or higher Engine oil quantity: Without oil filter cartridge replacement: 2. 50 L (2. 64 US qt) (2. 20 Imp. qt) With oil filter cartridge replacement: 2. 80 L (2. 96 US qt) (2. 46 Imp. qt) Clutch: Clutch type: Wet, multiple-disc Transmission: Primary reduction system: Spur gear Primary reduction ratio: 86/44 (1. 955) Secondary reduction system: Chain drive Secondary reduction ratio: 46/16 (2. 875) Transmission type: Constant mesh 6-speed Operation: Left foot operation Cooling system: Coolant reservoir capacity (up to the maximum level mark): 0. 27 L (0. 29 US qt) (0. 24 Imp. qt) Radiator capacity (including all routes): 2. 00 L (2. 11 US qt) (1. 76 Imp. qt) 8 Air filter: Air filter element: Oil-coated paper element 8-1 SPECIFICATIONS Gear ratio: 1st: 37/13 (2. 846) 2nd: 37/19 (1. 947) 3rd: 28/18 (1. 556) 4th: 32/24 (1. 333) 5th: 25/21 (1. 190) 6th: 26/24 (1. 083) Manufacturer/model: BRIDGESTONE/BT020R GG Manufacturer/model: DUNLOP/D252 Rear wheel: Wheel type: Cast wheel Rim size: 17M/C x MT5. 50 Loading: Maximum load: 196 kg (432 lb) (Total weight of rider, passenger, cargo and accessories) Front brake: Type: Dual disc brake Operation: Right hand operation Recommended fluid: DOT 4 Tire air pressure (measured on cold tires): Loading condition: 090 kg (0198 lb) Front: 225 kPa (33 psi) (2. 25 kgf/cm²) Rear: 250 kPa (36 psi) (2. 50 kgf/cm²) Loading condition: 90196 kg (198432 lb) Front: 250 kPa (36 psi) (2. 50 kgf/cm²) Rear: 290 kPa (42 psi) (2. 90 kgf/cm²) High-speed riding: Front: 225 kPa (33 psi) (2. 25 kgf/cm²) Rear: 250 kPa (36 psi) (2. 50 kgf/cm²) Chassis: Frame type: Diamond Caster angle: 25. 00 ° Trail: 97. 5 mm (3. 84 in) Rear brake: Type: Single disc brake Operation: Right foot operation Recommended fluid: DOT 4 Front tire: Type: Tubeless Size: 120/70 ZR17M/C (58W) Manufacturer/model: BRIDGESTONE/BT020F GG Manufacturer/model: DUNLOP/D252F Front suspension: Type: Telescopic fork Spring/shock absorber type: Coil spring/oil damper Wheel travel: 130. 0 mm (5. 12 in) 8 Rear suspension: Type: Swingarm (monocross) Spring/shock absorber type: Coil spring/gas-oil damper Wheel travel: 130. 0 mm (5. 12 in) Front wheel: Wheel type: Cast wheel Rim size: 17M/C x MT3. 50 Rear tire: Type: Tubeless Size: 180/55 ZR17M/C (73W) 8-2 SPECIFICATIONS Electrical system: Ignition system: Transistorized coil ignition (digital) Charging system: A.
