[. . . ] You can turn the Whiz KidTM Learning System back on at any time by following the above instructions. We recommend turning the unit off when it is not in use. Volume Button To adjust the sound volume when playing on the go (not connected to your PC), press the volume button on the upper right-hand side of the main unit. Press the up arrow button for louder volume, and the down arrow button for softer volume. To adjust the sound volume when connected to your PC, you can use the volume button, or the volume control on your PC. Pen Plug the pen into the jack on the bottom edge of the unit (as shown on P. ) before playing. [. . . ] After installation is complete, start the VTech® Whiz KidTM application by double clicking the VTech® Whiz KidTM icon on the PC desktop. Insert the matching Whiz KidTM game cartridge into the cartridge slot at the top of the VTech® Whiz KidTM Learning System unit. Turn on the Whiz KidTM Learning System main unit by pressing the ON button. NOTe: You must connect the Whiz KidTM Learning System main unit to the computer before you can play any activities. Otherwise, you will only be able to view the Progress Report or print activity pages. You can control the game cursor by using the PC mouse, or by moving the pen around on the board. Press down with the pen to select an object on the PC screen (similar to pressing the PC mouse button). When you insert a page into the board that matches the page on the PC screen, you can touch objects on the page to watch them come alive on the PC screen. PRINT, DOWNLOAD, PROGRESS REPORT PRINT FUNCTION If you lose or damage any of the included activity pages, you can simply print out replacement copies in the PC play mode. (For detailed instructions, please refer to the CD-ROM user's manual. ) NOTe: . Be sure to set your printing paper size to Letter size. ONLINE FUNCTION You can download additional activity pages for free when you click on the Web icon in PC play mode to visit the Whiz KidTM website on the internet. (For detailed instructions, please refer to the CD-ROM user's manual. ) PROGRESS REPORT You can see how well you're doing in the game by looking at your Progress Report. (For detailed instructions, please refer to the CD-ROM user's manual. ) PRINT, DOWNLOAD, PROGRESS REPORT 5 5. Connect the other end of the PC cable to your VTech® Whiz KidTM main unit. CARE & MAINTENANCE . Remove the batteries when not using it for an extended period of time. Always keep the Whiz KidTM away from water. WARNING A very small percentage of the public, due to an existing condition, may experience epileptic seizures or momentary loss of consciousness when viewing certain types of flashing colors or patterns, especially on a computer. While the Whiz KidTM Learning System does not contribute to any additional risks, we do recommend that parents supervise their children while they play PC games. If your child experiences dizziness, altered vision, disorientation, or convulsions, discontinue use immediately and consult your physician. Please note that focusing on a computer screen at close range and handling a pen for a prolonged period of time may cause fatigue or discomfort. We recommend that children take a 5-minute break for every hour of play. CARE & MAINTENANCE TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Possible Reason . Check that new batteries are correctly installed or the USB cable is properly connected between the PC and the main unit. Disconnect all power supplies (batteries and USB connection), then reconnect all power supplies. When pressing the ON/OFF button, nothing happens. . Inspect the inside of the game cartridge by pushing up the protective sleeve on the bottom of the cartridge. [. . . ] Make sure the Whiz KidTM program has been installed in your computer and is running, or re-install it. Disconnect all power supplies (batteries and USB connection) of the unit, then reconnect all power supplies.
