During a call, press the UP or DOWN key to adjust the listening volume to a comfortable level. The procedure is the same for the Handset earpiece and Speakerphone. Base Speakerphone Volume During an active call simply press the Volume UP or DOWN keys to adjust the speakerphone volume. Sound Select ADVANCED OPERATION During a call, you can adjust the quality of the sound to best suit your hearing. Pressing SOUND SELECT repeatedly will cycle you through four different frequency responses: BASS - Low Frequency sounds enhanced MID - Mid-Range sounds enhanced (This is the recommended setting for hearing aid users) TREBLE - High Frequency sounds enhanced 31 Handset and Base Operation NATURAL - No frequency enhancement (Your Handset is preset with this selection) The Handset will graphically display the four modes. Mute Function During an active call pressing either the MUTE soft key on the Handset or the MUTE key on the Base (when in Speakerphone mode), will disable the microphone. Press MUTE key again to return to normal 2-way conversation. Hold Function ADVANCED OPERATION From the Handset : · Press the HOLD soft key to place a call on hold. From the Base : · During an active call, press the HOLD key to place a call on hold. Note: Both the Handset and Base will display CALL ON HOLD when a call is placed on hold. However, with Clock Mode enabled, the CALL ON HOLD alert will be displayed on the Handset for only 5 seconds. If a call remains on Hold for 5 minutes, your VT5831 will ring to remind you the call is being held. You have 30 seconds to return to the call before it is dropped. Flash Function You can use your VT5831 with services such as Call Waiting. Simply press the ON key on the Handset or the FLASH key on the Base (when in speakerphone mode) to flash the line. 32 Handset and Base Operation Intercom From Base to ALL Handsets : · To page all Handsets from the Base press the INTERCOM key. Any Handset can then answer the PAGE, and enter INTERCOM mode with the Base by pressing the ON or any number key. To end an intercom call, press OFF on the Handset or INTERCOM on the Base. Press the Base INTERCOM key, then scroll to the Handset you want to call (e. g. Handset 2 can then answer the intercom call by pressing any key except OFF and the softkeys. To end an intercom call press OFF on the Handset or INTERCOM on the Base. To end the intercom call, press OFF on the Handset or INTERCOM on the Base.
