This manual has all the feature operations and troubleshooting necessary to install and operate your new VTech telephone. Please review this manual thoroughly to ensure proper installation and operation of this innovative and feature rich VTech product. [. . . ] You cannot create new entries in your downloaded directories from the DS6311 handset. Entries must be downloaded from your cell phone (see Download directory on page 24). 46 Telephone operation Create a new entry in the home directory Press MeNu/SeleCT on the handset when it is not in use. · Press and hold ReDIAl/PAuSe to insert a dialing pause (a p appears). You cannot create new entries in your downloaded directories from your DS6311 handsets. (If you only have one directory with entries, this step is not necessary. ) 3. Press or to browse. When the desired entry displays, press # repeatedly to show different dialing options. 3-character alphabetical search You can use the enhanced 3-character search to find your contacts quickly and efficiently. Follow the steps in Review the directory above to enter the directory. When an entry appears, use the dialing keys to enter the letters associated with the name (see page 48). If there is no name matching the letter(s) entered, the next closest match in alphabetical order appears. If necessary, use or to browse. 49 Telephone operation Dial a directory entry You can dial a directory entry on either a home or cell line. Search for the desired entry in the directory (see Review the directory or 3-character alphabetical search on page 49). When the desired entry appears, press # repeatedly to 800-595-9511 1-800-595-9511 show different dialing options. When the displayed number is in the correct format, 1-595-9511 press /hoMe/FlASh or to use the home line, or /Cell to use the cell line. edit a directory entry You may edit any directory entry. However, be aware that if you download from a cell phone again, the directory will be erased and replaced with the current cell phone directory. If you have edited the downloaded entries on the DS6311, those changes will be lost. Search for the desired entry in the directory (see Review the directory or 3-character alphabetical search on page 49). · Press and hold ReDIAl/PAuSe to insert a dialing pause (a p appears). If you have specially wired alarm dialing equipment connected to your telephone line, ensure the connection of this equipment does not disable your alarm equipment.
