Each time greeting is pressed, the outgoing message is switched between the pre-recorded and the personal outgoing message. Deleting an outgoing message To delete the personal outgoing message, press announces "greeting has been deleted". The system Setting the base ringer volume If you receive an incoming call or press talk/flash or spkr on the handset, or (talk) or on the base the operation will be canceled. You have three ringer options. You hear the ringer at the current volume level (" " High, " " Low, or " " Off) (if you set the base ringer volume to off "off" is announced), and it appears on the base. You can also set the base ringer volume while the phone is ringing, press set/ringer repeatedly to select the desired ringer volume. [ 42 ] T H E I N T E G R AT E D A N S W E R I N G D E V I C E Adjusting the speaker volume level When the base speaker is in use or in the standby mode, press ^ or v on the base to adjust the volume. 0 being the softest and 9 being the loudest. Using the Menu Mode The Menu mode allows you to set the following Answering System functions. · To scroll through the menu options, repeatedly press menu on the base in the standby mode. (talk) · If you press talk/flash or spkr on the handset, or or on the base during the menu setup, the operation will be canceled. If the system remains idle for 30 seconds, you will hear a beep and the system returns to standby. · You can use ^ or v to adjust the announcement volume level during a voice prompt/guidance. · When you have completed the setting, press to exit the menu mode, or menu to move to the next menu option. For your convenience, voice prompts will guide you through the menu setup mode. · If you press ^ in the maximum volume level (9) or v in lowest volume level (0), you will hear a beep. · Press and hold ^ or v on the base to scroll quickly through the volume levels. Follow these steps to set the clock to the correct time. · Normally the idle time for the menu mode is 30 seconds before the system returns to standby. However, for setting the time, the idle time is extended to two minutes. · Press and hold or to quickly scroll through the numbers on the display. 1) Press menu. The message counter displays the day of the week (from " " Sunday to " " Saturday). 2) Press or until the correct day is announced and the corresponding number appears. The numbers " " through " " appear on the base as each hour is announced. The numbers " " through " " appear on the base as each minute is announced. A confirmation tone sounds, the system announces "Time" and, the day and time are announced for your review. Setting a Personal Security Code To play your messages from a remote location, you will need to enter a two-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) code ( - ). [. . . ] · Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has been disconnected. · Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines. More than One Cordless Telephone If you want to use more than one cordless telephone in your home, they must operate on different channels. Press the channel key to select a channel that provides the clearest communication. Applying Power to the Base This phone requires an AC outlet, without a switch to interrupt power, and the included AC adapter. To relieve strain on the DC plug when the phone is placed on a desk or table, wrap the power cord around the strain relief notch on the bottom of the base. [. . . ]
