[. . . ] Never insert ordinary batteries in the device ­ these could overheat and explode!: 12 V/ 0. 5 A for 2 rechargeable batteries with 1. 5 Ah capacity each or for 4 rechargeable batteries with 700 mAh capacity each 230 V / 50 Hz for cigarette lighter socket 3. Overcharged or defective rechargeable batteries can overheat and explode. It is better to disconnect the device from the power supply and allow the rechargeable batteries to cool down before removing them. [. . . ] Inserting rechargeable batteries Rechargeable batteries must always be recharged in pairs ­ individual rechargeable batteries cannot be charged. · If you wish to charge two rechargeable batteries, place them in the right charging shaft. · If you wish to charge four rechargeable batteries, insert two rechargeable batteries in the left and two rechargeable batteries in the right charging shaft. · Ensure that the rechargeable batteries are inserted correctly, i. e. that the +/- marking in the charging shafts corresponds with that on the rechargeable batteries (polarity). the same type, the same charge condition, the same size and the same capacity. In this way you prevent that individual rechargeable batteries are already fully charged and get hot while others are still being charged. Charging If you have correctly inserted two or four rechargeable batteries as described on the previous page. . . insert the device plug of the mains charging adapter in the charging jack on the side of the device and . . . then the mains charging adapter in the socket. The charging process starts now. A red LED pilot lamp is illuminated on each charging shaft holding a rechargeable battery, . . . continuously, for as long as the rechargeable battery is being charged, slowly flashing, when the charging process has been completed, not, if the rechargeable battery has not been inserted correctly, rapidly flashing, if the rechargeable battery cannot be charged. 6. Charging with the storage boxes For transport or storage of the loose rechargeable batteries, two storage boxes are supplied in which the rechargeable batteries can also be charged immediately. · Insert the four identical rechargeable batteries in the storage box so that the +/- marking in the individual compartments corresponds to that of the rechargeable batteries (polarity) otherwise the charging process cannot start. · Slide the filled storage box with the contacts first in the shaft at the bottom of the device until it engages audibly. · Insert the device plug from the mains charging adapter in the charging jack on the side of the device and . . . · Then the mains charging adapter in the socket · The charging process starts now. If the rechargeable batteries have been inserted correctly the green LED above the shaft will be illuminated . . . - continuously, for as long as the rechargeable batteries are being charged, - flashing, when the charging process has been completed. To remove the storage box, press the red lever and pull out the storage box. UK Note: Should you forget to remove the storage box immediately after completion of the charging process, an auto-stop function prevents that the rechargeable batteries will be overcharged. [. . . ] Store the device, the mains charging adapter and all remaining accessories in a dry place. Note: If you do not remove the rechargeable batteries from the charging shafts, contact deposits can occur over time depending on the condition of the rechargeable batteries. Moreover, some rechargeable batteries could start leaking with prolonged storage and damage the device. 11. Disposal Before disposing of the device, first remove the rechargeable batteries. They must not be disposed of with the domestic waste: For this reason, return the rechargeable batteries to your dealer or a disposal collection point provided for this purpose. [. . . ]
