Programming The RTS-DataPak is designed to be programmed from a laptop or PC by connecting the male DB9 connector of a serial cable to the USER SERIAL PORT. The serial cable (female DB25/male DB9) is readily available in computer supply and similar stores. For programming follow the prompts in the TransTel Modem Manager Version 1. 1 computer program. You can also use the instructions in the CDPD modem manual that are included with the RTS-DataPak. The programming requirements may vary from one cellular carrier to another but usually include source and destination IP address and carrier or side preference. RTSDPDSP 3/97 Page 1 of 2 Battery Operation For operating the RTS-DataPak from a DC source, use a suitable 12 VDC battery. The battery is mounted in the battery retention bracket located inside the door of the RTS-DataPak. For connecting the battery, use a cable with a keyed four-pin plug and connect to the BATTERY Terminal located at the top left side of the interior chassis cover. Observe the positive and negative polarities as indicated on the chassis cover. It is, therefore, possible to connect both a 110 VAC power source and a battery. In this mode of operation the battery will keep the CDPD modem activated during a power outage. It is estimated that the battery provides approximately one hour of operation and eight hours of standby. Troubleshooting Condition AC POWER neon light does not light up.
