[. . . ] By default settings, a HotSync® operation synchronizes all data between your CLIÉ handheld and the PalmTM Desktop for CLIÉ software. In addition to the conduits for Date Book, Address Book, To Do List, and Memo Pad, the PalmTM Desktop for CLIÉ software offers System and Install conduits. The System conduit backs up the system information stored on your CLIÉ handheld. The Install conduit installs add-on applications to your CLIÉ handheld. You can select them as needed. 1 Click the HotSync icon in the Windows task tray and select Custom from the HotSync® Manager menu. You can also select Custom from the HotSync menu of the PalmTM Desktop for CLIÉ software. The Custom dialog box is displayed. 2 3 Select the user name you are using on your CLIÉ handheld from the list at the top. Select an application in the Conduit list. The Change HotSync Action dialog box is displayed. 5 Click to select one of the following: · · · · Synchronize the files Desktop overwrites handheld Handheld overwrites Desktop Do nothing 6 7 8 Click OK. Repeat steps 2 through 6 to customize conduit settings for other applications (or other users). Click Done. The conduit setting is changed. Notes · The conduit setting is applied to only the next HotSync® operation. To set a new setting as the default, in step 5, click the Set as default box to check it. · To restore the default settings, click Default in the Custom dialog box. Exchanging and updating data using a HotSync® operation (Other HotSync® operations) 98 Synchronizing with external data (File Link) You can synchronize Address Book or Memo Pad data in your CLIÉ handheld with external files such as address book data in your computer (File Link). The message will be displayed to note that the HotSync® operation is complete. To restore the local HotSync settings When performing a local HotSync® operation with the cradle, you need to restore the local HotSync settings. 1 2 Connect the cradle to your computer. Click the HotSync icon in the Windows task tray and check Local USB from the shortcut menu. To shorten the time required to synchronize data with a modem, define the files and/or applications you synchronize with a modem HotSync® operation in advance. For details, refer to "Selecting the conduits for a modem HotSync® operation" on page 108. Prior to performing a HotSync® operation via a modem Check the following items. · A modem or terminal adapter (TA) is connected to your computer. · Your CLIÉ handheld is properly connected to a Mobile Communication adapter sold separately. · The PalmTM Desktop for CLIÉ software is properly configured for use with the modem. b For details, refer to "Customizing how to start HotSync® Manager and the HotSync® setup options" on page 100. Exchanging and updating data using a HotSync® operation (Other HotSync® operations) 104 Performing a HotSync® operation via a modem Preparing your computer To perform a HotSync® operation via a modem, you need to follow the steps below to set your computer to receive a call from your CLIÉ handheld. 1 Check the following items. · The modem is connected to your computer and both the modem and computer are turned on. · No communication applications, such as fax or telephone software, are running on the COM port. · The computer is disconnected from the Internet. 2 3 4 Click the HotSync icon in the Windows task tray (bottom-right corner of the taskbar) and select Modem from the shortcut menu. [. . . ] Default applications such as Address Book, Memo Pad cannot be deleted. 1 2 Tap the Home Tap the Delete icon. Tip You can also delete an application by dragging an icon and dropping it over the Delete icon on the CLIE Launcher screen when the Use Drag&Drop check box on the CLIE Launcher Preferences screen (page 26) is on. 3 4 Tap the arrow V next to delete source to select Handheld or Card. Tap the application you want to delete and tap Delete. The confirmation message appears. 5 6 Tap Yes. The application selected in step 4 will be deleted. To cancel deleting, tap No. Tap Done. The Application Launcher screen is displayed.
