When Hibernation mode is enabled and the RTC battery is completely discharged, a warning prompts you to reset the real-time clock. The computer can be used while the RTC battery is being charged, although the charging status of the RTC battery cannot be monitored. Monitoring battery power The battery light indicates the battery's current charge. The indicator light: Green indicates the AC adapter has fully charged the battery. Flashing amber indicates that the computer is using battery power, and the battery's charge is running low. HINT: Be careful not to confuse the battery light ( ) with the on/off light ( ). When the on/off light flashes amber, it indicates that the system is suspended (using Windows® XP Standby command). If you have Hibernate mode enabled (the default), the computer copies the details of your open programs and files to the hard disk before shutting down. Setting battery alarms Your computer can be configured to warn you when the battery is running low. Each alarm can be set to alert you when a specified percentage of remaining battery power has been reached.
