Index 34 Introduction Viewing the wide-screen picture formats You can view programs in a variety of picture sizes--Natural, Theater Wide 1, Theater Wide 2, Theater Wide 3, and Full. The way the image displays in any of the picture sizes will vary depending on the format of the program you are viewing. See "Notice of possible adverse effects on TV picture tube" at right. NOTICE OF POSSIBLE ADVERSE EFFECTS ON TV PICTURE TUBE Avoid displaying stationary images on your TV screen for extended periods of time. Fixed (non-moving) images, such as side bars or top/bottom bars in widescreen picture formats, can become permanently engrained in the picture tube. This type of damage is NOT covered by your warranty because it is the result of misuse. See item 32 on page 4. Using the TV's Features (Continued on next page) Appendix Index 35 Introduction Connecting your TV (Continued from previous page) Theater Wide 1 picture size · The picture is non-uniformly enlarged--the center of the picture remains close to its original proportion, but the left and right edges are stretched wider to fill the screen. · A small part of the picture at Theater Wide 1 picture size example the top and bottom is hidden; however, this mode cannot be scrolled. Theater Wide 2 picture size Note: · To select the picture size, press PIC SIZE on the remote control or select PICTURE SIZE in the THEATER menu. · If you select Theater Wide 2 or 3, the top and bottom edges of the picture may be hidden. To see the hidden edges, either scroll the picture (see page 37) or try viewing the program in Full picture size. · The entire picture is uniformly enlarged--it is stretched the same amount both wider and taller (retains its original proportion). To view the hidden areas, see "Scrolling the Theater Wide picture" on page 37.
