INSTALLATION BEFORE INSTALLATION PLEASE NOTE: All wiring must be done in accordance with the NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE (NEC) and applicable local codes.  [. . . ] Connect the Black motor wire from fan to the WHITE wire from speed controller. Connect the BLACK wire from speed controller to the 115 Volt source (L1). NOTE: Refer to wiring diagram below. 

SPEED CONTROLLER CHECK OUT PROCEDURES Step 1. Turn the dial in a clockwise rotation and listen for a "click",  then stop rotation.
