[. . . ] About Trans-It Trans-It provides a simple and secure way of storing your files. The plug-and-play device provides maximum speed data transfer if connected to a USB 2. 0 port, but is also compatible with USB 1. 1 ports. You can drag and drop files to and from Trans-It just as you would with a hard drive. About U3 Trans-It has U3 smart drive functionality, which allows storing U3 software programs on the drive. [. . . ] You do not need to install any drivers unless your operating system is Windows 98SE. If your operating system is Windows 98SE, please visit www. tdk. com/usbsupport to download the required driver. Download and install the driver before connecting Trans-It to your PC. Insert Trans-It into an available USB port on your computer and wait while it is initialized. If your operating system is Windows XP, initialization messages may appear followed by a confirmation message that your new hardware is installed. · If your operating system is Windows ME or Windows 2000, your computer will simply return to your desktop. · A U3 welcome screen may appear, and a U3 icon may appear in your Windows system tray. For more information on using Trans-It's U3 functionality, please read the U3 Quick Start Guide, available at www. tdk. com/usbsupport. · 2. If your operating system is Windows XP, your Trans-It drive folder will appear in a separate window. If this does not happen or if you are not prompted to select a function, double-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop and then double click on the TDK TransIt icon in the My Computer window to access your Trans-It. 3. You can now save, copy and delete files on Trans-It in the same manner you would with a hard drive. Trans-It's LED will illuminate when data transfer is active. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not remove Trans-It from the USB port without following the proper procedure. If you have other drives installed on the system, Windows may try to install Trans-It as the same drive letter. The drive should now appear correctly in Windows Explorer and My Computer. With Macs, a formatting message may appear if your computer has not been set up to read Windows-formatted files. Refer to the computer's user's guide to learn how to enable reading Windows files with it. If you format Trans-It with NTFS, the drive will have less available storage space than if you don't format it. If data transfer was interrupted by removing the drive from your PC without following the correct procedure or by power failure, the files may have been corrupted. If the files are unrecoverable, you will need to reformat your drive as outlined below. WARNING: Reformatting permanently erases all data on your drive. Windows XP: 1. Your Trans-It may have been supplied with a pre-installed password security utility. Maximum transfer rates are only possible when your Trans-It is connected to a USB 2. 0 port. If you save a virus-infected file on Trans-It, the drive can be infected. The virus-infected file could then infect other computers you use with the drive.
