[. . . ] Even when the sewing machine is unplugged there is still the risk of injury. Always unplug the sewing machine before performing the following operations: Changing the needle and the foot Threading the needle Before inserting or removing the embroidery/darning throat plate Changing the bottom bobbin When you are not using the sewing machine always use the hand wheel to raise the needle to the highest position. While sewing, please be sure that you do not place your fingers under the needle clamp screw. Only use brand name accessories and spare parts (maximum lamp output 15 W). [. . . ] Either turn the presser foot pressure screw towards for low pressure (heavy material such as leather or tweed) ortowards + for high pressure (lightweight fabrics, darning). Thread tension normal Adjust the thread tension if the thread breaks during sewing (tension too high) or if no loops form (tension too low). If you use other than 120 thread you may have to alter the top thread tension: Move the adjustment dial in order to adjust the top thread tension. The correct tension is between "1" and "3" for thin fabrics, between "3" and "5" for medium weight fabrics, and between "6" and "9" for heavy fabrics. Bottom thread tension: The bottom thread tension set in the factory only needs to be altered in exceptional circumstances. The bottom thread tension is correct when the thread can be drawn out of the bobbin case with only light pressure. If it is too difficult to draw out or does not come out at all, then the tension is too high. To adjust the bottom thread tension, use the adjustment screw on the bobbin case. To increase tension: Turn the adjusting screw clockwise To decrease tension: Turn the adjusting screw anticlokkwise. Turn the hand wheel to the front until the needle is at its lowest position and is sticking into the fabric. Reverse sewing can be used to reinforce the beginning and the end of a seam. Carefully insert the hem guide from the right-hand side into the slot in front of the presser foot lever. When embroidering, darning or sewing on buttons, you have to feed in the fabric yourself. the embroidering/darning throat plate prevents automatic fabric feed: 1. Turn the hand wheel towards the front until the needle reaches the highest position. Straight stitch Foot: Stitch setting: Stitch length: A B General purpose foot A or B 0. For straight stitching you can select position "A" or "B" on the stitch selector. in position "A" the needle is in the middle , in position "B" on the righthand side. "B" is very useful for hemming Zig-zag sewing Foot: General purpose foot For reinforcing seams, appliquéing, attaching lace and so on. When repairing tears and rips it is advisable to put a piece of backing fabric under the tear as a reinforcement. Sew three to five rows, depending on the kind of fabric and the extent of the tear. Triple straight stitch and triple zigzag stitch Both stitches can be used for knitted and stretch materials, as well as for heavy fabrics. [. . . ] The replacement of the plug at the mains lead has to be done according to the following instructions: Important: The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: blue = Neutral brown = Live As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: the wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black, the wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red.
