We urge you to read it carefully and follow the recommendations to help assure the most enjoyable, safe, and trouble-free operation of your vehicle. [. . . ] When using a child restraint, read the installation instructions supplied with the child restraint and follow the directions for fitment carefully. When installing the child restraint, use the correct anchor bolt (5/16" bolt). The anchor bolt must be engaged at least 5 full threads in the anchorage. The child restraint system should be secured in conjunction with the vehicle's seat belt. After installation, push and pull the child restraint to be sure it is secure. Secure the child in the restraint in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. If you have any queries regarding the installation of a child restraint, consult a Ssangyong Dealer. NOTE Since a safety belt or child restraint system can become very hot if it is left in a closed vehicle, be sure and check the seat cover and buckles before placing a child there. 8-12 SEAT BELT AND AIR BAG Page 12 2006-05-17, 12:59 INSTALLATION OF THE ATTACHING CLIP Child restraint attaching clip Example (in driving position) WARNING Child restraint anchorages are designed to withstand only those loads imposed by correctly fitted child restraints. Under no circumstances are they to be used for adult seat belts or harnesses or for attaching other items or equipment to the vehicle. 0 1 2 3 4 WARNING When installing a child restraint system, follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer. When not in use, keep your child restraint system secured with a seat belt or remove it from the vehicle. Do not allow a child in the cargo areas while the vehicle is moving. Front Rear Front Rear 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 Positive engagement of the child restraint attaching clip is achieved by depressing retainer spring and then opening of the anchor fitting as shown in the illustration. Lock washer A 5/16"-UNC-2B-bolt with a thread length of 30 mm is used to attach the anchor fittings to the vehicle anchorage. For fitting advice, please contact your authorized Ssangyong Dealer. Children who have outgrown child restraint systems should sit in the rear seat and be restrained with the seat belt. If child's seating position has a shoulder belt which is on or very close to the face or neck, move the child close to the center of the vehicle, slightly inboard of the shoulder belt, or move the child to a position without a shoulder belt if possible. It increases the danger of sliding out of the belt and can cause serious injury or even death. The belt may also tighten the chest which is not as strong as the shoulders. If the seat belt is too loose, it may not protect your body from injury or death in an accident. Otherwise, occupants could be seriously injured in collisions or sudden maneuvers. In many countries, there are regulations regarding the use of the seat belts. Do not wear the seat belt over any hard or breakable objects in pockets or on clothes. An infant and tiny child must be restrained in a child restraint system. Note that the three point seat belt is designed for a person who is taller than 140 cm. Periodically check that the seat belt and its components work properly.
