K 59 VAIO Notebook User Guide Connecting a Phone Line You need to connect a phone line to take advantage of online services and the Internet. In order to register your Sony VAIO notebook, register your software online, and use Sony Customer Support, you must connect to a phone line. 1 Plug one end of the phone cable into the modem jack on the computer.
