[. . . ] When you position or resize an object on a menu, you should check whether it falls within the safe zone. To show or hide the safe zone, do one of the following: · To display the safe zone, choose Menu Editor > View > Show Safe Zone. · To hide the safe zone, choose Menu Editor > View > Hide Safe Zone. Text Safe zone Image Safe zone Editing Buttons, Graphics, and Text 111 Selecting Objects You can select single or multiple objects, and add or remove objects from the selection. To select objects floating on a menu: 1 Display the menu in the Menu Editor window and do one of the following: · To select a single object, click it. · To add additional objects to the selection, Control-click them. DVD Producer selects all the objects that are completely enclosed by the marquee: · To select all objects at once, choose Edit > Select All or press Control+A. · To remove an object from the selection, hold Control-click it. When you select an object, DVD Producer displays green selection handles around its edges. 112 Chapter 8, Working with Menus Moving and Resizing Objects To move objects floating on a menu: 1 Select the objects you want to move and do one of the following: · Click anywhere on the object (except on a green selection handle) and drag the object to the new location. · To move the selected objects more precisely, use the Arrow keys on the keyboard. The objects move one pixel in the direction of the arrow key each time you press it. · To move the selected objects in 10-pixel increments, press Shift while pressing the Arrow keys. To resize objects floating on a menu: 1 Select the objects you want to resize and do one of the following: · Drag any of the object's green handles to make the object larger or smaller. If you selected multiple objects, all selected objects change size together. Editing Buttons, Graphics, and Text 113 · Drag the center handle to resize in all directions while keeping the object centered on the same point. Dragging up and to the left makes the object smaller; dragging down and to the right makes it larger. · To maintain the object's proportions, Shift-drag a handle. Note: If you resize a text block, the block changes size but the text continues using the same font size. To change the font size for text, see "Adding Text" on page 101. Cutting, Copying, Pasting, and Duplicating Objects To duplicate objects on a menu: 1 Select the objects you want to duplicate. DVD Producer copies each selected object and pastes the copy over its original, offset slightly from the originals. Note: You can also Alt-drag objects to create copies. To cut or copy objects and paste them onto another menu: 1 Select the objects you want to copy and do one of the following: · Choose Edit > Cut or press Control+X. 2 Display the menu where you want to paste the objects in the Menu Editor. DVD Producer pastes each object in exactly the same position as it was in the original menu. 114 Chapter 8, Working with Menus Moving Objects to the Front and Back As you create objects on a menu, DVD Producer places each object on its own invisible layer in front of previously created objects. DVD Producer lets you rearrange these layers to move selected objects behind or in front of other objects. This is particularly useful for finding objects that have been "buried" under other objects--you simply move the uppermost layers of objects backwards until the object you want appears in front. To move objects to the front or back: 1 Select the objects you want to move and do one of the following: · To move the objects to the front, choose Menu Editor > Order > Move To Front. · To move the objects one layer forward, choose Menu Editor > Order > Move Forward. · To move to the objects to the back, choose Menu Editor > Order > Move To Back. · To move the objects one layer back, choose Menu Editor > Order > Move Backward.
