[. . . ] The Barricade will only connect when you explicitly request it to, for example, by launching your web browser. 4-8 SETUP WIZARD PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol) The Barricade supports PPTP connection. The PPTP connection delivers userlevel authentication VPN (virtual private network) for secure network path. Enter the user account ID and password required by your ISP in the appropriate fields. If your ISP has provided you with a Host Name enter it in the Host Name field, otherwise, leave it blank. Click on the Disconnect after x minutes of no activity and then enter the idle time for the Internet connection. This is the period of time for which the connection to the Internet is maintained during inactivity. If your ISP charges you by the minute, you should change the idle time out to one minute. Since your Service Provider may connect to the Internet with dynamic IP settings, it is likely that the DNS server IP's are also provided dynamically. Click NEXT to proceed, or BACK to change your settings. 4-9 CONFIGURING THE BARRICADE L2TP (Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol) The Barricade supports L2TP connection. This information is used for log entries and client filtering. For accurate timing of log entries and system events, you need to set the time zone. If daylight savings is used in your area, check the box to enable the function, and select the start/end dates. If you want to automatically synchronize the Barricade with a public time server, check the box to Enable Automatic Time Server Maintenance. Click Save Settings. 4-12 SYSTEM Password Settings Use this screen to change the password for accessing the management interface. Passwords can contain from 3~12 alphanumeric characters and are case sensitive. For most applications, you should use the Barricade's DHCP function to dynamically assign IP addresses to hosts on the attached LAN. However, if you manually configure IP addresses on the LAN, verify that the same network address (network component of the IP address) and subnet mask are used for both the Barricade and any attached LAN devices.
