SPECIFICSAFETYINSTRUCTIONSFORCORDLESS sHrUB/GrAss sHeArs GeNerAl · This tool is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the tool by a person responsible for their safety · Ensure that children do not play with the tool · Only use the tool in daylight or with appropriate artificial lighting · Always remove battery from tool - whenever leaving the tool unattended - before clearing jammed material - before checking, cleaning or working on the tool - after striking a foreign object - whenever the tool starts vibrating abnormally · Do not trim hedges when they are wet 8 · Keep hands and feet away from the cutting blade, especially when switching on the tool · Never operate the tool in the direct vicinity of persons (especially children) and animals · The user is responsible for accidents or hazards occurring to other people or their property BEFOREUSE · Before using the tool for the first time, it is recommended to receive practical information · Always check that the supply voltage is the same as the voltage indicated on the nameplate of the charger (chargers with a rating of 230V or 240V can also be connected to a 220V supply) · Check the functioning of the tool before each use and, in case of a defect, have it repaired immediately by a qualified person; never open the tool yourself · Before use, thoroughly inspect the cutting area and remove all foreign objects that could be entangled in the cutting blades (such as stones, nails, wire fences, metal plant supports) dUrING Use · Wear protective gloves, safety glasses, close-fitting clothes and hair protection (for long hair) · Always wear long trousers, long sleeves and sturdy shoes when operating the tool · Take a secure stance when working (do not overreach, especially when using steps or a ladder) · Holdthepowertoolbytheinsulatedgripping surfacesonly, becausethecuttingbladesmay contacthiddenwiringoritsowncord (cutting blades contacting a "live" wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and could give the operator an electric shock) · Keepallpartsofthebodyawayfromthecutting blades, donotremovecutmaterialorholdmaterial tobecutwhenbladesaremoving, andmakesure theswitchisoffwhenclearingjammedmaterial (a moment of inattention while operating the tool may result in serious personal injury) · Keepthe(extension)cordawayfromthecutting area (during operation the cord may be hidden in shrubs and can be accidentally cut by the blades) · Always ensure that the ventilation openings are kept clear of debris · In case of electrical or mechanical malfunction, immediately switch off the tool or unplug charger from power source AFTERUSE · Carrythetoolbythehandlewiththecuttingblades stoppedand, whentransportingorstoringthetool, alwaysmountthebladecover (proper handling of the tool will reduce possible personal injury from the cutting blades) CHArGING/BATTerIes · Charge battery only with the charger that is supplied with the tool · Do not touch the contacts in the charger · Do not charge battery in damp or wet environments · When charging the battery, place the charger on a flat non-flammable surface and away from combustible materials · Do not expose tool/charger/battery to rain · Store tool/charger/battery in locations where temperature will not exceed 40°C or drop below 0°C · Do not use charger when damaged; take it to one of the officially registered SKIL Service Stations for a safety check · Do not use charger when cord or plug is damaged; cord or plug should be replaced immediately at one of the officially registered SKIL Service Stations · Do not use battery when damaged; it should be replaced immediately · Do not disassemble charger or battery · Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries with the charger EXPLANATIONOFSYMBOLSONTOOL/CHARGER/ BATTERY 3 Read the instruction manual before use 4 Do not expose tool/charger/battery to rain 5 Warning!After switching off the tool the blade continues to move for a few seconds 6 Payattentiontotheriskofinjurycausedbyflying debris (keep bystanders a safe distance away from work area) 7 Only use the charger indoors 8 Double insulation (no earth wire required) 9 Fail-safe isolating transformer (the power source is electrically separated from the transformer output) 0 Automatic shut-off when charger gets too hot (thermic fuse blows and charger becomes useless) !Incorrect polarity of the charger connection could cause a hazard (only charge the battery with the charger supplied) @ Do not dispose of the charger together with household waste material # Do not dispose of the battery together with household waste material $ NiMH technology provides more energy in a less environment-polluting way WHEN CONNECTING NEW 3-PIN PLUG (U.
