The scarf (dent on needle back) is important because it allows the looper to come near the needle to catch the thread and form a stitch. It is possible to use conventional sewing machine needles 130/705H for special threads and fabrics. Insert the thread guide pole into the spool pin base located at the back of the machine. Before connecting the power cord/foot control, make sure the voltage and frequency shown on the machine are identical to your electrical power. Insert the machine/foot control plug into the machine socket and the power supply plug into the wall outlet. While the machine is in operation, always keep your eye on the sewing area and do not touch any moving parts needle(s), handwheel, upper knife, loopers, etc. Always turn off the power switch and unplug the machine from the power supply: When leaving the machine unattended when attaching or removing parts when cleaning the machine. To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. IMPORTANT: When removing and inserting the needles, be sure to: turn the power switch q off. swing up the presser foot lever e to lower the presser foot (see page 48).
