SimpleTransfer is your easy solution for peer-to-peer file transfer on Windows® and Apple® Macintosh® computers. SimpleTransfer includes easy-to-use utilities that allow you to transfer your system, application, Microsoft® Outlook®, and personal data between computers. [. . . ] 3 In the Progress Info window that appears, click the Select button next to the Source (Remote) Folder text box. Using FileManager for Windows 13 4 In the Select Source (Remote) Folder file manager window that appears, navigate to the folder on the Remote Host containing the original file(s) to you want synchronized onto the Local Host computer, then click OK to close the window. 5 In the Progress Info window that appears, click the Select button next to the Target (Local) Folder text box. 6 In the Select Source (Remote) Folder file manager window that appears, navigate to the target folder on the Local Host where you want the original files saved, then click OK to close the window. 7 In the Progress Info window, click Sync to start the synchronization process. Synchronization may take a while to complete. The amount of time required to complete a synchronization session depends on the number and size of the 14 Using FileManager for Windows 8 When synchronization completes, click Exit. 9 On the Remote Host system, open the Synchronize menu, then click Folder Synchronize>Allow remote execute to terminate SimpleMover access to the remote computer. Using FileManager for Windows 15 Unplugging the SimpleTransfer Module After using SimpleTransfer, you may disconnect the transfer module from your computer. However, if your computer is running Windows ME or Windows 2000, you must stop FileManager from running to safely remove the cable from your computer. To avoid data corruption or loss, before stopping FileManager from running, make sure all data transfer activity has completed. 1 Exit FileManager on the Local Host and the Remote Host computers. 2 Double-click the Safely Remove Hardware icon located in the System Tray. 3 In the Safely Remove Hardware window, select the SimpleTransfer USB drive, and then click Stop. 4 When Windows prompts you to confirm the device you want to stop, select the SimpleTransfer USB drive again, and then click OK. 5 Click Close to close the Safely Remove Hardware window. Safely Remove Hardware 16 Using FileManager for Windows USING FILEMANAGER FOR MAC OS Starting FileManager in Mac OS To start FileManager on Macintosh computers, double-click the SimpleTransfer (CD-ROM) desktop icon. In the Finder window that appears, double-click EasyMacCopy. FileManager displays a split-screen containing two file explorer windows--the Remote Host computer appears in the upper window and the Local Host computer appears in the lower window. To transfer files and folders, FileManager must be running on the both the computers. Using FileManager for Mac OS 17 Setting File Access Security in Mac OS SimpleTransfer security allows you to limit access to the files and folders on each computer during data transfer operations. When "Share as Read Only" is selected on a computer, the user on the connected computer is prevented from modifying or deleting files or folders on that computer. All files and folders accessed by the a remote user are presented as read only. To enable file access security, open the EasyMacCopy menu and click Setup. In the dialog box that appears, click the Share as Read Only checkbox, and then click OK. Copying Files and Folders in Mac OS Using Drag n' Drop to Copy Files and Folders FileManager allows you to drag and drop files from the Local Host to the Remote Host computer and vice versa. To copy files or folders by dragging, locate the file or folder you want to copy. Using your mouse, select (click on), then drag the file or folder to the destination on the other connected computer. Make sure the destination of the file or folder you want to copy is visible. If necessary, scroll to view the destination before dragging the file or folder. 18 Using FileManager for Mac OS Using the Edit Menu to Copy Files and Folders 1 Locate, then select (click on) the file or folder you want to copy. Unplugging the SimpleTransfer Cable in Mac OS After using SimpleTransfer, you may remove the transfer module from your computer. However, you must stop FileManager from running to safely remove the cable from your computer. To avoid data corruption or loss, before stopping FileManager from running, make sure all data transfer activity has completed. 1 Close FileManager.
