In order to set the time and date after winding the mainspring manually, do not relock the crown but continue the procedures. While the watch hands show any time between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM, pull out the crown to the second click, and turn it counterclockwisedownward to temporarily advance the hands to show any time after 1:00 AM. This procedure is required to ensure the proper engagement of the calendar driving wheel. Each time the hour hand makes two full rotations, the date is adjusted for one day. When setting the hour hand, be sure that AM/PM is set correctly. Under a low-temperature conditionbelow 0ºC, always keep at least one-sixth of the power reserve shown by the power reserve indicator. P u l l o u t t h e c r o w n t o t h e first click. The second hand continues moving. Pull out the crown to the first click. Pull out the crown to the second click when the second hand is pointing at the " 0 " second position. The second hand will stop on the spot. Turn the crown slowly, checking that the hour hand moves in one-hour increments. Calendar adjustment Next, set the time. Slowly advance the minute hand to the time you wish to set. Each time the hour hand makes two full rotations, the date is adjusted for one day. When the crown is a screw lock type, lock it. "Screw lock type crown" page 50 Push the crown back in. The same practice should be applied to a screw lock type crown. "Screw lock type crown" page 50 63 The above figures are examples. Both of them may be different from the figure on the case back of your watch. Water resistance water resistant performance of your watch before using. Refer to "page 63" Refer the table below for the description of each degree of Indication on the case back 64 Water resistant performance Non-water resistance Condition of use Avoid drops of water or sweat The watch withstands accidental contact with water in everyday life. No indication WATER RESISTANT WATER RESISTANT 5 BAR WATER RESISTANT 10 (20) BAR 65 Water resistance for everyday life Water resistance for everyday life at 5 barometric pressures WARNINGNot suitable for swimming The watch is suitable for sports such as swimming. The watch is suitable for diving not using an air cylinder. Water resistance for everyday life at 10(20) barometric pressures. WARNING CAUTION Do not use the watch in scuba diving or saturation diving. The various tightened inspections under simulated harsh environment, which are usually required for watches designed for scuba diving or saturation diving, have not been conducted on the water-resistant watch with the BAR (barometric pressure) display. For diving, use special watches for diving. Do not leave moisture, sweat and dirt on the watch for a long time. Be aware of a risk that a water resistant watch may lessen its water resistant performance because of deterioration of the adhesive on the glass or gasket, or the development of rust on stainless steel. 66 CAUTION Do not wear the watch while taking a bath or a sauna. Steam, soap or some components of a hot spring may accelerate the deterioration of water resistant performance of the watch. Do not turn or pull out the crown when the watch is wet. Water may get inside of the watch. If the inner surface of the glass is clouded with condensation or water droplets appear inside of the watch for a long time, the water resistant performance of the watch is deteriorated. Immediately consult the retailer from whom the watch was purchased or SEIKO CUSTMER SERVICE CENTER (listed on the end of a book). 67 Do not pour running water directly from faucet. The water pressure of tap water from a faucet is high enough to degrade the water resistant performance of a water resistant watch for everyday life. Magnetic resistanceaffect of magnetic field Grand Seiko Spring Drive conform to the Magnetic Resistance Standard of JIS Class 1. The watch has magnetic resistance to maintain performance in most cases even where it is brought close toat least 5cm spaced fromequipment generating a magnetic field in normal life. However, the movement parts are magnetized when they encounter a strong magnetic field, thereby accuracy may go out of order. Pay attention so as not to bring the watch close to equipments generating a strong magnetic field within 5cm. Magnetized items that may affect watches Examples of common items that generate a magnetic field 68 Classification of JIS antimagnetic watches Class 1 Certified level of magnetic resistance 4800A/m Indication of antimagnetism on the case back Antimagnetic quality The watch has magnetic resistance to maintain performance in most cases where it is brought close toat least 5cm spaced fromequipment generating a magnetic field in normal life. Magnetic clips Magnetic accessories Speaker of audio instruments, radios, earphones, or mobile phone etc. 69 If the accuracy exceeds the accuracy target range ± 15 seconds/monthduring normal usage due to magnetization, removal of magnetism and accuracy readjustment works are charged regardless of the guarantee period. CAUTION Keep the watch more than 5 cm away from magnetized products. Magnetic health equipments such as magnetic Magnetic door seal of plasters, magnetic pillows, magnetic back belts etc. refrigerator or furniture Magnetic buckle of handbags or purses Band The band touches the skin directly and becomes dirty with sweat or dust. [. . . ] While you are wearing the watch or when you take it off, check the remaining power shown by the power reserve indicator and wind the mainspring if necessary. If the watch is left at a temperature below 0 ºC, it may stop if the power reserve indicator is showing less than one-sixth of the power reserve. Return the watch to a normal temperature so that it works accurately as usual, and then reset the time. The watch has been adjusted so that it works accurately when it is worn on your wrist under a normal temperature range between 5 ºC and 35 ºC. [. . . ]
