[. . . ] This manual has been prepared to give complete information necessary for the operation, use, handling and maintenance of the Chronometer QM-11. For the purpose of our constant technical manual improvement program, your questions, advice, suggestions and comments on the descriptions, illustrations, procedures or any matter concerning this manual are highly appreciated. SEIKO shall have no liability to the user in respect of any loss or damages, whether consequential or incidental, sustained by the user if such loss or damages are: 1) due to abuse, misuse, failure to observe instructions given in the manual furnished by SEIKO and neglect of other reasonable care and servicing due to be done by the user irrespective of such instructions, and failure due to deliberate actions or gross negligence or accident; 2) caused by changes, modifications, or alterations made without prior written consent of SEIKO or by any person other than authorized by SEIKO; or, 3) due to negligence on the part of the user of what should be done or should not be done as a good caretaker of the Chronometer QM-11. (4) / SYMBOLS AND THEIR MEANINGS The symbols used in this operating manual denote the following: DANGER WARNING DANGER is used to indicate such operational procedures, practices, or situations that are likely to cause death or severe personal injury if relevant instructions are not followed correctly. [. . . ] The hour and minute hands can be adjusted easily with the hand setter knob, and the second hand adjustment can be made by pressing a button. The Chronometer also has a battery lid that is easy to remove for battery replacement procedure. Being equipped with a secondary battery, the Chronometer continues operating for approximately 40 hours after the dry batteries have run down. This also means that the clock operation does not stop even during the battery replacement procedure. "ADJ. "switch The second hand advances at double speed while the switch is kept pressed. Screw-in battery lid Remove the battery lid with the attached opener, and insert three R20/D dry batteries. "STOP" switch The hands stop moving while the switch is kept pressed, and start moving again as it is released. 5 I-6124 / Rear Protective lid for hand setter knob Hand setter knob Turn the knob while pressing it to adjust the hour and minute hands. Unauthorized disassembly, repair or modification may cause electric shock accidents or fire accidents. 7 I-6124 / How to Use / Starting the Chronometer . Remove the battery lid, insert three R20/D dry batteries, and close the battery lid tightly. Press "BATT. -CHECK" switch to check that the pointer of the battery life indicator points to the blue zone. Use the telephone or other time signal service to set the Chronometer to the correct standard time. Press and hold "STOP" switch when the second hand is at the 12 o'clock position, and release it in accordance with a time signal for "00" seconds. The second hand setting can also be made by keeping "ADJ. " switch pressed until the second hand indicates the current seconds. Remove the protection lid for hand setter knob, and turn the hand setter knob to set the hour and minute hands to the standard time. [. . . ] Never use solvents (benzene, thinner, or the like), abrasives (polishing powder or the like), and bristle brushes. / Warranty In principle, the spare parts for the Chronometer QM-11 will be available for 7 years after purchase, and your Chronometer will be repaired within this period if it becomes faulty under normal conditions of use. The spare parts here refer to the parts and components essential to keeping the functional integrity of the Chronometer. The period for which repair services are available varies over a wide range depending on how your Chronometer has been used. [. . . ]
