This is important to prevent fatal electric shock accident. Do not install the Chronometer where it may be immersed in water. Install the Chronometer on a flat surface where it will not be exposed to wind pressure, vibrations, or accidental human contact that may let it fall. [. . . ] If it falls, personal injury may result. Installation of products 1 I-6124 Please observe the following. Otherwise, explosion, leakage or over-heating of the batteries will occur, resulting in personal injury and contamination of the surroundings. Do not use any other batteries than LR20/D alkaline or R20/D manganese dry batteries. When batteries are installed for the first time, or when they are replaced, be sure to use new ones only. When installing the batteries, check that the (+) and (-) terminals are properly aligned. Wrong polarity will cause a malfunction of the Chronometer. 2 I-6124 / Overview Using high-precision quartz crystal oscillator (TCXO), DAYDATEANALOG MULTISERIES is specially designed to maintain high accuracy constantly even under harsh environmental conditions. In addition to the high accuracy and excellent durability, the Chronometer is equipped with water resistance equivalent to IPX3 (JIS 3rd class), thus being highly suitable for use on board a ship. Furthermore, it is housed in a gorgeous wooden frame case, which makes it fit nicely in any type of rooms as a charming piece of furniture. Besides being a marine chronometer, DAYDATEANALOG MULTISERIES can serve as a clock that provides the standard time at various places where highly accurate time indication is required. / Features of DAYDATEANALOG MULTISERIES ± ± The Chronometer DAYDATEANALOG MULTISERIES operates with an accuracy of daily loss/gain of within ±0. 1 seconds at a temperature of 25, and within ±0. 2 seconds in the temperature range between 0~40. Using waterproof gaskets for its case and glass, the Chronometer is equipped with an excellent water resistant quality that can withstand even harsh environmental conditions. It takes approximately 10 days after the new dry batteries are inserted for the secondary battery to be charged fully to store approximately 40 hours of backup energy as specified. If the exhausted dry batteries are left inside the Chronometer for a long time, the battery leakage may occur. When the pointer of the battery life indicator points to the red zone by pressing "BATT. -CHECK" switch, replace the batteries with new ones as soon as possible. While the dry batteries have run down or taken out for replacement procedure, the Chronometer can operate normally for approximately 40 hours on the built-in secondary battery. When replacing the dry batteries, ensure that the (+) and (-) terminals of the batteries are correctly inserted. When you decide not to use the Chronometer for a long time, remove the dry batteries to prevent battery leakage 5. When the dry batteries are not inserted into the battery holder, the pointer of the battery life indicator indicates the voltage of the built-in secondary battery by pressing "BATT. -CHECK" switch. 9 I-6124 / Troubles You Can Solve Yourself . If the hands will not move properly to indicate the correct time, check the following: 1. Press "BATT. -CHECK" switch to check if the pointer of the battery life indicator points to the blue zone. If the pointer of the battery points to the red zone, check the following: All the three dry batteries are inserted in the correct direction with the (+) and (-) terminals properly aligned. The voltage of the dry batteries has not been decreased to an extremely low level. The screw-in battery lid is closed tightly. If the above troubleshooting still fails, or if any other trouble should occur, call your nearby SEIKO dealer or agent for service. WARNING For repair service, call your nearby SEIKO dealer or agent.
