Spot focus: The camera focuses on the subject in the center of the LCD monitor. 1 2 Display the Shooting Setting Screen (see page 39). Select a focus method from the spot focus menu, and press the SET button. oe When the spot focus setting is selected, the focus mark + appears in the center of the LCD monitor. The camera will focus on the subject at the focus mark in the center of the LCD monitor. In this condition, compose the picture and press the shutter release button all the way down to capture the image. oe It may be difficult to focus if there is little contrast in the subject or if the subject is very small. English 102 LIGHT-MEASURING MODE SETTING You can select from 3 types of light-measuring modes. (Aperture and shutter variable program AE) Example: For simple shooting with minimum setup, using the camera's automatic settings. (Aperture priority AE) Example: To open the aperture for portraits with a blurred background (for a shallow field depth), or to close the aperture for a clear foreground and background (for a deep field depth). (Shutter speed priority AE) Example: To set a fast shutter speed for capturing a clear image of a fast-moving object, or to set a slow shutter speed to shoot the flow of a background scene. 107 English SETTING THE EXPOSURE CONTROL Í: This allows you to set a specific shutter speed and aperture size. (Manual exposure control) Example: When shooting in a dark location without using the flash, set the shutter to stay open for a longer time (slow shutter).
