Spot focus: The camera focuses on the subject in the center of the LCD monitor. 1 2 Display the Shooting Setting Screen (see page 39). Select a focus method from the spot focus menu, and press the SET button. oe When the spot focus setting is selected, the focus mark + appears in the center of the LCD monitor. B SPOT FOCUS OFF SPOT FOCUS OFF 12 12 3. 1 1/30 Focus mark NOTE When the spot focus setting is selected oe To focus on a specific object, point the camera so that the object matches the focus mark in the center of the LCD monitor, and press the shutter release button halfway. The camera will focus on the subject at the focus mark in the center of the LCD monitor. In this condition, compose the picture and press the shutter release button all the way down to capture the image. oe It may be difficult to focus if there is little contrast in the subject or if the subject is very small. B 12 EXP CONT/PROGRAM 2. 7 1/100 Î: This allows you to set a specific aperture size. The camera automatically sets an appropriate shutter speed based on this setting. (Aperture priority AE) Example: To open the aperture for portraits with a blurred background (for a shallow field depth), or to close the aperture for a clear foreground and background (for a deep field depth). The camera automatically sets an appropriate aperture size based on this setting. (Shutter speed priority AE) Example: To set a fast shutter speed for capturing a clear image of a fast-moving object, or to set a slow shutter speed to shoot the flow of a background scene. 107 English SETTING THE EXPOSURE CONTROL Í: This allows you to set a specific shutter speed and aperture size. (Manual exposure control) Example: When shooting in a dark location without using the flash, set the shutter to stay open for a longer time (slow shutter). When used for shooting nighttime scenes, you can capture lights flowing across the image. 3 Press the SET button. oe The screen corresponding to the exposure control mode selected in step 2 appears. <Aperture and shutter variable program AE Ï> oe The setting changes to aperture and shutter variable program AE, and you are returned to the Shooting Setting Screen. <Aperture priority AE Î> oe The display to set the aperture size appears. oe Press [j] or [l] on the arrow button to set the desired aperture size.
