String the larger loop of the strap though the short loop and pull tight to attach the strap to the camera. English Inserting the Battery Follow these instructions to insert the Li-ion battery into the battery compartment. Insert the battery into the compartment observing the correct polarity. 3. Close the battery compartment. Note: The Li-ion battery should be fully charged before using for the first time. Attaching the Wrist Strap Camera Setup 13 The camera features 16 MB internal flash memory but you may also use an optional SD/MMC memory card for additional storage. Close the battery compartment. To remove the SD/MMC card, gently push the card until it pops out. Pull out the card carefully. Charging the Battery Insert the battery into the battery charger as shown. Connect the power supply to the charging unit and the mains supply. Turning On Press and hold the Power button to turn on the camera. To turn off the camera, press the Power button again. Inserting an SD/MMC Memory Card English Inserting an SD/MMC Memory Card 14 Camera Setup First Time Use Press the Power button as described in "Turning On" on page 13, a welcome screen displays on the LCD screen. First Time Use Getting Started 15 Now that you are familiar with the layout of your camera, you are ready to start taking photos and movies. Taking your First Photo Taking a photo with the camera is very simple. Frame the shot on the LCD screen and press the Shutter button halfway. When a camera steady warning icon appears, hold the camera as still as possible, as a longer exposure time (more than 1/30 second) is required. Anti-Shake Function This function is only available in Auto capture mode. Press the / button to enable the AntiShake function, and press again to disable it. An Anti-Shake icon displays on the LCD screen when the function is activated. Using Quick Review To delete a photo when using Quick Review: 1. See "Deleting Photos/Videos/ Audios" on page 29 for more detailed information. Using Macro Mode Macro mode is designed for close-up photography and can capture all detail even when your subject is very close to the camera. The Macro icon displays on the LCD screen. Taking your First Photo English Getting Started 16 Getting Started Setting the Flash Mode English You can choose from four flash modes to suit various lighting conditions. Press the Up/Flash navigation button to scroll through the four modes on the LCD screen. The flash setting remains the same for subsequent photos until you change it as described above. FORMAT MEMORY CARD INTERNAL MEMORY EXIT Reset The Reset setting allows you to reset the camera to the original factory default settings.
