To adjust the engine idle speed, turn the idle speed adjustment screw (A) on the carburetor. Before starting the engine Make sure the cutting attachment is clear of any broken glass, nails, wire, stones or other debris. Always wear safety goggles to protect your eyes and ear protectors to dampen the noise level. Always wear heavy long trousers, a long-sleeved shirt, boots and gloves when working with this tool. Do not wear loose clothing, jewellery, shorts or sandals, and never work barefoot. Never operate this trimmer/brushcutter when you are tired, ill, or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medications. If a person approaches your work area, stop the engine and cutting attachment immediately. Wear the recommended personal protective equipment and observe all safety instructions. When the throttle trigger is released, the engine should return to an idle speed. The correct speed for models PBC-4243M and JM100(K) is 2400 - 2800 min-1; for model PBC-3243M it is 2700 - 3300 min-1 (or just below the clutch engagement speed). When cutting heavy brush, always swing the brushcutter from right to left. Swinging the brushcutter from left to right can cause the blade to kick back. Clean any dirt and debris from the area between the boss adapter and the gearcase. While rotating the attaching shaft, inject lithium-base bearing lube (A: P/N 211337) through the plug hole (B) until the gearcase is full. The air filter should be cleaned daily, or more often when working in extremely dusty conditions. Apply a light coat of SAE 30 motor oil to the foam element and squeeze out all excess oil. Using a wire hook, gently pull the fuel filter out through the fuel filler opening. [. . . ] The spark plug should be removed from the engine and checked every 25 hours of operation. Gently twist the high tension lead boot on the spark plug back and forth a couple of times to loosen the boot, then pull the boot off the spark plug.
