Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] They provide information concerning the proper operation of the EXR-7s. No part of this publication may be reproduced in any form without the written permission of Roland Europe S. The EXR-7s's sounds are based on full-length (uncompressed) waveforms, which is unique in this price range. This produces vibrant, realistic sounds quite unlike anything you would expect from a budget-friendly arranger keyboard. [. . . ] To transpose the keyboard down, hold down [] while pressing [0]~[6] (in that case, you can transpose the pitch down by up to 6 semitones) As soon a you select a value other than "0", the TRANSPOSE icon starts flashing to signal that the EXR-7s is applying global transposition to all sections. (4) To switch the global transposition back off, repeat step (3), this time entering the value "0" (no transposition). the TRANSPOSE icon stops flashing (and disappears if the "USRTrnsp" function is off). Note: This setting is not saved to a User Program and will be cancelled when you switch off the EXR-7s. (5) Press the [EXIT] or any other "big" button the DATA ENTRY section to leave this function. The EXR-7s allows you to transpose the Keyboard parts (Main, Split, Dual) up or down by 4 octaves. To change the octave transposition of a part, hold down [TONE] (Main part), [SPLIT] (Split part) or [DUAL] (Dual part), while pressing [] (down) or [+] (up). These can be set via the FUNCTION menu, or are covered elsewhere: · The EXR-7s is velocity sensitive, which means that the volume and brightness of the Main, Split and Dual notes depend on the force/speed with which you strike the keys. The harder you play, the louder and brighter the resulting notes will be, which creates a perfectly natural effect. (That explains why the KEYBOARD TOUCH function is on when you power on the EXR-7s. ) If the EXR-7s is your first musical instrument ever, you may feel distracted by the volume and timbre variations of the notes you play. You only need to make sure that you do so over the two "eyes" and within a 40cm (±16") range. Let's first try out the DJ GEAR functions, so press [DJ¥GEAR]. (5) Move your hand towards and away from the D Beam's "eyes". (6) Press and hold the [DJ¥GEAR] button until the display shows the "VinylRPM" message. (10) Press the [DJ¥GEAR] button again (it goes dark) to switch the D BEAM function off. The D BEAM is off if none of the three buttons in the D BEAM pad lights. Now try out the [EFX÷ INSTRUMENTS] (sound effects, play notes using a given sound) and [CONTROLS] (change Arranger playback) buttons. The D Beam Controller has two sensors that detect motion (such as your hand or body movements) in front of it. These "sensed" positions are translated into MIDI messages that can be assigned to a variety of parameters. To assign another function to a D BEAM button: (12) Hold down the D BEAM button that lights until the currently assigned D Beam function appears in the message line of the display. (13) Use the DATA []/[+] buttons to select the desired function (see below). [. . . ] The value to the left of the "Formatng" message now counts from "1" to "100" while the disk icon flashes to indicate that the disk is being accessed. when the disk is formatted , the message "Complete" is briefly displayed. (5) Press the [EXIT] or any other "big" button in the DATA ENTRY section to leave this function. If you like, you can also record your performance (or a Recorder songs) to cassette, MD, etc. [. . . ]
