M217 Installation advice The ideal installation height for the M217 Display is 140 ± 10 cm (55 ± 4 in) measured to the centre of the display. This results in a good viewing angle, even for slightly shorter people, and a comfortable operation of the combination of M217 display and M218 keypad. [. . . ] In A/B operation, the second 217 has the same address set through DIL switches 3 & 4 as the first 217, but with DIL switch 2 activated. Depending upon installation position it can occur however that a stronger or weaker contrast attitude supplies the better reading off result. This graphic shows the M217 display while the tuner is active This contrast attitude can later be made with the help of the softkeys in the Standby or operating mode (except server operation). 9-C M217 Display unit Re:control MUSIC MENU The Music menu shows you all the important information in the 217 display in a clear way. The menu is controlled either through a connected 218 wallmounted remote control or through an IR remote. In this mode, the four display keys are used exclusively for the Timer. The display can vary, depending on which modules are integrated into the M51 and/or which software is installed. Please note: The M51 enables you to give your own names to many sources or radio stations and these names, of course, are also displayed on the 217 in the additional rooms. Possible displays Tuner with display of the station name Analogue source Aux1 Analogue source Aux1 with modified source name CD player in Play mode CD player while track jumping CD player while reading in the CD/DVD 10-C M217 Display unit Re:control TIMER MENU The Timer is the control centre of the Multiroom system. Using the Timer, you can set a wakeup alarm for specific days or lull yourself off to sleep with the Sleep function. Timer programming The concept of the timer programming is as follows: Firstly, you select one of the four Timers and then assign it the required properties. The following figure shows the inside Timer display field with the corresponding assignments. The Timer is called with the Timer softkey on the M217. The first time it is called, the following display appears: Timer status Timer no. Change to another source. 11-C M217 Display unit Re:control Timer selection Timer The Select options Select The properties of the individual Timers can be set with the Select softkey: Switching time Weekday Volume Select timer source (Select tuner station) You can scroll through a loop of the selection options by repeatedly pressing the Select key: Timer 1 has been selected in the above example. If you reach Timer 4, pressing the softkey again brings you back to Timer 1. Timer 1 Timer 2 Timer 3 Timer 4 Switch-on time [Hours] Switch-on time [Minutes] Switch-off time [Hours] Switch-off time [Minutes] Weekday [ . . . ]) The two square brackets [. . . ] indicate that this part can be edited according to your requirements with the softkeys. This is further shown in the individual chapters of these Operating instructions by [ ] 12-C M217 Display unit Re:control Switching times Select Only switch on or off Sometimes, it is useful just to switch the music equipment on at a specific time and switch it off manually, or vice-versa. In order to make only one timepoint active, you select the display **:** when setting the hours value. This appears between 23h and 0h and the minute value is not relevant. Once you have selected a Timer, you can define the switch on/off times with the Select softkey. The first time the Select key is pressed, the first counter pair appears in square brackets. [ As soon as a timer's settings are modified however, this is automatically activated. First, using the softkeys, you define the switch-on time and then the switch-off time. Switch-on Switch-off | | Hours Minutes | | | | In the above example, Timer 1 starts at 7:15am and remains active until it is switched off manually. Timer 2 always switches off at 9:30pm, irrespective of when it was manually switched on. [8]:[15] [9]:[20] Please note If a timepoint is selected for the switch-off, which is earlier than that chosen for the switch-on, e. g. 20:15 08:30 the switch-on occurs at 8. 15pm on the selected day and switchoff occurs at 8:30am, on the following day. 13-C M217 Display unit Re:control Weekday Select Once you have defined the switch-on and switch-off timepoints, by pressing the Select key again, you can reach the next stage where you define the weekdays when the timer is to be activated [ M T W T F S S SS MTWTF MTWTFS MTWTFSS As well as the individual days from Monday to Sunday, you can also select from specific day groups. The individual weekdays are identified by the following letters: M T W T F S S Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday Timer weekday examples: SS only Saturday and Sunday MTWTF from Monday to Friday MTWTFS from Monday to Saturday MTWTFSS daily, Monday to Sunday Example: With the setting MTWTF, the timer will wake you each day from Monday to Friday but will let you have a lie-in on Saturday and Sunday. Selection is made from an endless loop of options that you can step through using the softkeys. The following weekday setup options are available: 14-C M217 Display unit Re:control Volume Select Select timer source Select After selecting the weekday(s), the next time you press Select, you will be prompted to set the volume level that should be [ used The Multiroom module timer offers your three sources that can be activated when the timer kicks in. [. . . ] Using this genre assignment, you can choose the style of music you would like to listen to such as Rock or Classical, for example. To do this, select the Genre softkey in the main menu shown below and press Select. [ Once you have selected a genre with the softkeys , using the Shuffle key, you can start a random play of all the titles stored under that genre. If you just want a specific album, press the Album softkey, select the album from the resulting list and start to listen to it by pressing the Play softkey. 22-C M217 Display unit Re:control [E] Playlist Selecting a Playlist Once Playlist has been selected, all the defined Playlists are shown in alphabetical order, e. g. : With the Playlist selection, you can choose tracks that you have already put together yourself into so called Playlists.
