[. . . ] Additionally, you can insert chapter markers manually to segment different parts of the title. To insert a chapter marker, simply highlight Insert Chapter Marker during playback at the point where you want the chapter to start. Since the DVD recorder automatically adds chapter markers every 5 minutes, you may want to make each chapter longer by deleting a chapter marker during playback. During playback you can hide a specific chapter so it is automatically skipped. New Title Frame You can change the thumbnail image that appears in the Player Menu (described in the next section). When the video appears that you want to use to visually represent the title, press OK (the next time you access the Player Menu a still image of this video will appear). You can divide one recording into smaller segments so that each title appears separately in the Disc Title Menu. This is a helpful feature when you record a block of programming that contains several shows and/or when you copy camcorder videocassette tapes to a disc. · 30 Graphics contained within this publication are for representation only. Chapter 3: Recording, Playback & Features Rename Title Play Title Play Full Title Delete Title Clear Chapters Simon's 4th Birthday Fri, 6/20/2003 03:00 pm 04:00 pm *1 Best Using the Split Title Feature to Copy Camcorder Videocassette Tapes to Disc The Split Title option lets you divide one recording into different titles. This is especially handy when you transfer videocassette tapes from camcorder recordings to disc--once you "Split the Title" you can jump from one special occasion to the next without the time consuming effort of fast forwarding through a tape. Connect the VCR's Output Jacks to the DVD recorder's Input jacks (for easy access, you can use the Front Input jacks). For a connection picture using the Input jacks on the back of the DVD recorder, go to page 56. Match the Video (yellow) and the Audio jacks (red and white) to the correct cables. 2. Insert a blank DVD+RW disc into the DVD recorder (you must use DVD+RW disc to use the Split Title feature, not a DVD+R disc). 4. Put the videocassette into the VCR (make sure it's cued to the beginning of the tape, or the place from which you want to start recording). Insert Chapter Marker Delete Chapter Marker Hide Chapter New Title Frame Split Title 5. Press PLAY on the VCR and RECORD on the DVD recorder (most videocassettes contain 2 hours of programming so you can automatically set the DVD recorder to record for 2 hours by pressing RECORD 4 times). After you've finished recording, name the disc--go to the DVD recorder main menu; highlight Disc Title Menu and press OK (the options appear). Since Rename Disc is highlighted, just press OK (the keyboard appears). The disc contains one title--the entire contents of the videocassette tape. Play the disc from the beginning to determine what to name the first event you recorded (for example, Simon's 4th birthday). Name the first title by going to the Disc Title Menu and selecting Rename Title. When you get to the end of the first event on the disc-- in the example above, Simon's 4th birthday--press the PAUSE button. Press the right arrow button to highlight the Edit icon , and press OK. [. . . ] Connect a set of audio/video cables to the DVD recorder's OUTPUT VIDEO (yellow), AUDIO L (white), and AUDIO R (red) jacks, to the VCR's Input Jacks (sometimes labeled VIDEO and AUDIO L and R). Connect an RF coaxial cable to the OUT TO TV jack on the VCR and to the IN FROM CABLE/ANTENNA jack on the TV. Also, connect the cable or antenna signal to the In From Antenna jack on the VCR. Make sure all of the components (TV, VCR, and DVD recorder) are plugged into working power outlets. [. . . ]
