You can charge/discharge different types of batteries in different bays, as long as the battery (or batteries) in each bay are the same type and same size. For example, you can charge a 9V battery in one bay and charge a C battery in one of the remaining bays at the same time. Insert up to four pairs of AAA/AA batteries or up to four C/D batteries into the battery bay as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and ­ ) marked inside each bay. Plug the supplied AC adapter's barrel plug into the jack on the back of the charger, then plug the adapter into a standard AC outlet. 4. When the batteries are fully discharged, the green indicator turns off and the red charging indicator (or indicators) lights. When AAA, AA, C, or D batteries are fully charged, The charging indicator turns off. To charge a 9V battery, insert it into one of the terminals inside either bay. To charge a second 9V battery at the same time, insert it into the remaining terminal.
