[. . . ] You will see a message similar to the message below: Figure 22 Write Protect Message GoVault User's Guide 23 Chapter 4 Using the GoVaultTM Drive Formatting a Cartridge Note: A GoVault cartridge that is formatted with the NTFS file system and is write protected cannot be accessed by Windows 2000. In order to access the data on a NTFS formatted cartridge in Windows 2000 the cartridge must be write enabled. Formatting a Cartridge The Quantum GoVault cartridge may be formatted in the same manner as any other hard drive. The cartridge can be formatted when the GoVault drive letter is right clicked in the My Computer or Explorer window. When the context menu appears choose the Format option by clicking on Format. 4 Figure 23 Format GoVault Dialog GoVault User's Guide 24 Chapter 4 Using the GoVaultTM Drive GoVault System Application Software Features The GoVault system application software can format the cartridge with a FAT32 file system or with the NTFS file system. Note: The application can format a FAT32 file system larger than 32GB. All data stored on the cartridge will be destroyed during the format. Note: GoVault System Application Software Features GoVault specific features can be accessed by right-clicking on the GoVault icon shown in either Windows Explorer or in the My Computer area. Note: These features are available only if the GoVault system application software has been installed. Quantum strongly recommends that this software be installed. 4 Figure 24 GoVault Menu GoVault User's Guide 25 Chapter 4 Using the GoVaultTM Drive Cartridge Password Protection Cartridge Password Protection Setting a Password a password to protect the data on your cartridge. Each individual cartridge can have its own password. 4 4 The Quantum GoVault system application software allows you to create You may wish to create a password for your cartridge if you feel the data stored on your cartridge is sensitive to you and you don't want the data to be seen by others. On the other hand, if you are certain your cartridge will always be in your hands you may not want to create a password. Each time a password protected cartridge is inserted into the dock you will be required to enter the password. If you forget the password, data in the cartridge will NOT be accessible and all data on the cartridge will be lost. However, the cartridge can be reused to store new data after a Security Erase. Please write down your password and store it in a safe place. To set password protection for the current cartridge: 1 Insert a write enabled cartridge. 2 Right click the GoVault drive letter shown in My Computer or Explorer and select Set Password from the menu. The GoVault: Set Cartridge Password dialog will display (see figure 25). Type your password again in the Confirm Password text box and then click the OK button. Your cartridge will be password protected and you will need to enter the password each time you insert the cartridge into the dock. Please write down your password and store in a safe place. If the password is incorrect the GoVault: Enter Cartridge Password dialog will change asking you to try again (see figure 27). The current password of a password protected cartridge can be changed 1 To change the cartridge password, eject and reinsert the cartridge.
