[. . . ] Then those targets will now available to that host for esXpress backups Target Teams can be assigned to the Global Settings or the Host Group level. Any target team assigned at these levels will be inherited by the hosts. From the Host Grid, modify the settings to assign the Target Team using the target team drop down box. From the Host Configuration Tabs on the `Basic Tab' under `Target Type and Location' using the `Network Target Team' drop down box. Backup Targets You can configure and assign backup targets from this option. In the Backup Targets window click New Backup Target and enter the details for the backup target 25 Make sure you set the target as a `RollOver' Target. The Transport Type defines which type of backup target you are defining (SSH or SMB ). The backup target can be assigned to a Target team here itself or alternately you can leave it unassigned and assign it later on. Click on the Assign Target to Target Team to assign the new backup target to a team 26 Select the Target, Target Team and the number ( 1 9 ) that the target will be assigned to Only available target numbers will be shown. Hosts To enable esXpress to run backups on each of your hosts you must define them to the GUI appliance. Before adding hosts it is recommended to first create your backup targets and teams and review the Global Configuration settings. The reason for this is the host will inherit the esXpress settings automatically from the global. Before adding any hosts to the esXpress GUI make sure you have read the esXpress Quorum section of this manual and have reviewed the prerequisites. To add a new host select Hosts>New Host Important: Before adding any hosts to the esXpress GUI the following requirements must be met to enable your ESX hosts to be successfully installed from the GUI appliance. A VMKernel IP must be assigned on each host managed by the esXpress GUI. The GUI must be on the same VLAN as the VMKernel IP assigned to each host or the network traffic must be routable between the VMKernel IP and the assigned GUI IP for SSH and NFS connections. For additional information on configurating a VMKernel IP address see the VMware iSCSI SAN Configuration Guide. 27 Enter the details of the host being added. This name is case sensitive and it must match exactly the esx server hostname. The User ID and root password are required so esXpress can install the VBA and management rpms to your host as well as run the backup operations. The User ID can not be root, it must be a separate user created on the host. When adding a new host you can optionally assign it to a Host Group and provide a Target Team or choose to assign them later. [. . . ] Publish Button : In order for the gui configuration settings to be set to your hosts running esXpress you must click the `Publish' button. Without doing a Publish any changes made will not be reflected on your hosts, they will only be saved in the gui appliance. If any saved configuration changes have been made and were not published to the host you will see the below message at the top of the gui appliance web interface. When a Publish is done it will send updated configuration settings to all of the hosts assigned to the gui. [. . . ]
