GoVaultTM Data Protection Software, Version 1. 0 User's Guide 52 Chapter 3 Operation Finding and Restoring Files and Folders Use the standard Windows file selection functions (click, CTRL+click, and SHIFT+click) to open and select the files and folders you want to restore. 4 With your restore files selected, use the standard windows Copy/ Paste or drag-and-drop functions to restore the selected backup files and folders to your system disk drives. Note: You can restore files to their original location or to any other location. Caution: Attempting to restore a file that is open can cause data loss or corruption. Always save all open files and close all running applications before beginning a restore operation. To restore to a particular point in time: 1 Select the date of the successful backup operation that you want to restore from in the calendar display on the Explore page (see figure 38 on page 49). The GoVault data protection software displays each successful backup operation that was completed on the selected date, according to the protection plan that produced it, with an indication of the archive time and status of the backup (see figure 41 on page 53). Note: If the backup you want to restore from is on a different GoVault cartridge, the Status indication will be Offline. As prompted, click the link to display the Browse For Folder dialog (see figure 45). Figure 45 Browse For Folder Dialog 4 Use the Restore list box to specify the replacement rules for the restore operation: a Select Missing files if you want to restore only the files that are missing at the specified restore location. This option inhibits the restore operation from overwriting any file at the restore location. b Select Missing files and files that are older if you want to restore the files that are missing or older at the specified restore location. This option inhibits the restore operation from overwriting any file at the restore location that is newer than the file in the archive. c Select Missing files and files that are different if you want to restore the files that are missing or different at the specified restore location. GoVaultTM Data Protection Software, Version 1. 0 User's Guide 56 Chapter 3 Operation Managing GoVault Cartridges and Data Protection This option inhibits the restore operation from overwriting any file at the restore location that is identical to the file in the archive, regardless of the age of the file. 5 After specifying the restore location replacement rules, click Restore to begin the restore operation and monitor the displayed status. 6 When the status display signifies that the restore operation has finished, click Close to close the Point in Time Restore dialog. Figure 46 Cartridge Page Ejecting Cartridges 3 To eject a cartridge from the GoVault dock: 1 Click the GoVault data protection software Cartridges command button to display the Cartridge page (see figure 46). 2 Click Cartridge Utilities to open the cartridge utilities menu and click Eject Cartridge. 3 Remove the cartridge from the dock after the eject operation completes and store it in its protective case. If data corruption is ever detected, the system will quarantine the corrupted data and attempt to rebuild the portion of corrupted data using information from the original file.
