[. . . ] After oil has drained completely, close and lock the drain valve by pushing inward and turning clockwise until the pin is in the locked position as shown. Remove the drain tube and replace the cap onto to the bottom fitting of the drain valve. For approximate capacity see "PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS" section of this manual. Keep oil at "FULL" line on dipstick. TEMPERATURE RANGE ANTICIPATED BEFORE NEXT OIL CHANGE 16 CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES CLEAN AIR SCREEN Air screen must be kept free of dirt and chaff to prevent engine damage from overheating. Clean with a wire brush or compressed air to remove dirt and stubborn dried gum fibers. AIR FILTER (See Fig. Clean the foam pre-cleaner after every 25 hours of operation or every season. Service paper cartridge every 100 hours of operation or every season, whichever occurs first. · Carefully remove cartridge to prevent debris from entering carburetor. · Reinstall cartridge, nut, precleaner, cover and secure with knob(s). IMPORTANT: PETROLEUM SOLVENTS, SUCH AS KEROSENE, ARE NOT TO BE USED TO CLEAN THE CARTRIDGE. DO NOT USE PRESSURIZED AIR TO CLEAN OR DRY CARTRIDGE. COVER KNOB SPARK PLUG COVER ENGINE COOLING FINS (See Fig. 12) Remove any dust, dirt or oil from engine cooling fins to prevent engine damage from overheating. · Remove screws from blower housing and lift housing and dipstick tube assembly off engine. · Use compressed air or stiff bristle brush to thoroughly clean engine cooling fins. · To reassemble, reverse above procedure. SCREWS BLOWER HOUSING SCREWS AIR SCREEN OIL FILL TUBE ASSEMBLY ENGINE COOLING FINS CARTRIDGE NUT FIG. 13 17 CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES MUFFLER Inspect and replace corroded muffler and spark arrester (if equipped) as it could create a fire hazard and/or damage. CLAMP CLAMP SPARK PLUGS Replace spark plugs at the beginning of each mowing season or after every 100 hours of operation, whichever occurs first. Spark plug type and gap setting are shown in "PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS" section of this manual. FUEL FILTER IN-LINE FUEL FILTER (See Fig. If fuel filter becomes clogged, obstructing fuel flow to carburetor, replacement is required. · Place new fuel filter in position in fuel line with arrow pointing towards carburetor. · Be sure there are no fuel line leaks and clamps are properly positioned. · Keep finished surfaces and wheels free of all gasoline, oil, etc. We do not recommend using a garden hose to clean your tractor unless the electrical system, muffler, air filter and carburetor are covered to keep water out. · 18 SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS WARNING: TO AVIOD SERIOUS INJURY, BEFORE PERFORMING ANY SERVICE OR ADJUSTMENTS: · Depress clutch/brake pedal fully and set parking brake. New Power Train Components Incorporated in equipment used for rental purposes are warranted in the same manner and to the same extent EXCEPT such Power Train Components are warranted for THIRTY (30) DAYS ONLY, and must be received by Tecumseh or a Tecumseh Authorized Service Outlet within 30 days from the date of sale to the original purchaser.
