Electrolux Home Products, Inc. [. . . ] Release the throttle lock by squeezing and releasing the trigger. NOTE: If engine has not started, pull starter rope 5 more pulls. Proceed to STARTING A FLOODED ENGINE. STARTING A FLOODED ENGINE Flooded engines can be started by placing the ON/OFF switch in the ON position and the choke lever in the OFF CHOKE position and engaging the throttle lock as directed in the STARTING A COLD ENGINE section; then, pull the rope to clear the engine of excess fuel. Starting could require pulling the starter rope many times depending on how badly the unit is flooded. If the unit still doesn't start, refer to the TROUBLESHOOTING TABLE or call 1-800-554-6723. SERVICE Ensure ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position and disconnect the spark plug before performing maintenance except for carburetor adjustments. WARNING: INSPECT AND CLEAN UNIT AND LABELS S Before and after each use, inspect complete unit for loose or damaged parts. After each use, clean the unit and labels using a damp cloth with a mild detergent. S Wipe off unit with a clean dry cloth. HELPFUL TIP IMPORTANT: Have all repairs other than the recommended maintenance described in the instruction manual performed by an authorized service dealer. If any dealer other than an authorized service dealer performs work on the product, Electrolux Home Products, Inc. , may not pay for repairs under warranty. It is your responsibility to maintain and perform general maintenance. CLEAN AIR FILTER Air Filter Cover GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS The warranty on this unit does not cover items that have been subjected to operator abuse or negligence. To receive full value from the warranty, the operator must maintain unit as instructed in this manual. Various adjustments will need to be made periodically to properly maintain your unit. Air Filter Screw Cleaning the air filter: A dirty air filter decreases engine performance and increases fuel consumption and harmful emissions. Clean the cover and the area around it to keep debris from falling into the carburetor chamber when the cover is removed. Doing so can create a fire hazard or produce harmful evaporative emissions. Add a few drops of oil to the filter; squeeze filter to distribute oil. Replace parts. CHECK FOR LOOSE FASTENERS AND PARTS S Spark Plug Boot S Air Filter S Housing Screws CHECK FOR DAMAGED OR WORN PARTS Contact an authorized service dealer for replacement of damaged or worn parts. S ON/OFF Switch - Ensure ON/OFF switch functions properly by moving the switch to the OFF position. S Fuel Tank - Do not use unit if fuel tank shows signs of damage or leaks. After 50 hours of use, we recommend that your gearbox be serviced by an authorized service dealer. INSPECT MUFFLER AND SPARK ARRESTING SCREEN WARNING: The muffler on this product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer. -- 6 -- As your unit is used, carbon deposits build up on the muffler and spark arresting screen. For normal homeowner use, however, the muffler and spark arresting screen will not require any service. After 50 hours of use, we recommend that your muffler be serviced or replaced by your authorized service dealer. If you require further assistance or are unsure about performing this procedure, contact an authorized service dealer or call 1-800-554-6723. BLADE ADJUSTMENT The clearance between the cutting blades must be adjusted periodically to maintain optimal performance and sharp cutting. OWNER'S WARRANTY RESPONSIBILI-road engine engine TIES: As the small offowner, you are responsible for the performance of the required maintenance listed in your instruction manual.
