Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] Designing and building speakers is more than just a business for the people of Polk Audio it is our passion. Your new Polk speakers include the latest loudspeaker technology to assure outstanding performance and unmatched quality. Please take a moment to read through this manual for information on getting the greatest enjoyment from these fine instruments. We make a wide variety of automotive loudspeakers, including factory replacements, coaxes, component systems, tweeters and subwoofers. [. . . ] After disconnecting the factory speaker, connect the wires to your new speaker, hooking up the positive or (+) wire to the larger of the two EX speaker terminals and the (-) or unmarked wire to the smaller terminal. Mount your EX speaker using the mounting hardware you took out in Step 2. Installing in a New Location In many cases a factory speaker location is either not available or is undesirable. In such cases you may select a new location that takes into account both the vehicle's design and your sonic goals. Door panels, kick panels, or dashboards are likely locations for the round or 4" X 6" speakers. Remove any door panels, kick panels, molded parts, or fabric coverings to expose the surface that will need to be cut. This includes any moving parts behind the speaker (move the windows up and down) or to the sides of the speaker (open and close the door). Draw the inside circle and mark at least two opposing screw locations (see Figure 1). SCREW FIG. 2 Example of a typical mounting procedure. MOUNTING CLIP SPEAKER WIRES EX402a SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS SCREW HOLE The EX402a has two break-away "tabs" to allow easy placement in tight locations (see Figure 3). Secure the speaker with at least two opposing tabs. TEMPLATE FIG. Coat any bare metal surfaces with primer to prevent rust after filing all edges smooth. Mount the new clips that are included over the screw holes (see Figure 2). Connect the wire marked positive (+) to the terminal with the (+) on your new speaker which is the larger of the two terminals. Connect the other wire to the negative (-) or smaller of the two terminals. Carefully orient the new speaker over the screw holes with the new mounting clips. Tighten the screws firmly to secure the speaker to the mounting surface. 3 EX402a GRAY AREA BREAKS OFF 7 EX572a SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE OR SERVICE The EX572a also has break-away "tabs" to allow easy placement in tight locations (see Figure 4). Remove as necessary. GRAY AREA BREAKS OFF GRAY AREA BREAKS OFF If, after following the hook-up directions, you experience difficulty, please double check all wire connections. Make sure that your electronic equipment is operating correctly by hooking up another speaker to the speaker output. For example, if you are not getting sound from the left channel speaker, connect the right channel speaker to the left output. If you still get no sound from that side, the problem is in your amp or source electronics. Should you isolate the problem to the speaker, contact the authorized Polk Audio dealer where you made your purchase. [. . . ] This results in very high levels of audible distortion, originating in the amplifier, which adds a harsh, gritty sound to the music. Contrary to popular belief, a speaker is more likely to be damaged by trying to get too much volume from a low-powered amp or receiver than from a high-powered one. 180w 150w 150w 120w 100w 4 ohms 45-22kHz 4 ohms 45-20kHz 4 ohms 65-22kHz 4 ohms 75-22kHz 9/16" 6 1/2" 92dB 1lb. 9. 6oz. 1 1/2" 1 1/2" N/A 6 7/8" X 10 1/4" 6 7/8" X 10 1/4" N/A 93dB 3lbs. 11. 8oz. 8 9 EX SERIES II FULL RANGE SPECIFICATIONS EX SERIES II 1 YEAR WARRANTY Type EX502a 5 1/4" coaxial EX501a 5" coaxial EX462a 4" X 6" coaxial EX402a 4" coaxial EX351a full range Driver complement 5 1/4" 5" 4" X 6" 4" 3 1/2" driver driver driver driver dual cone w/12mm tweeter w/12mm tweeter w/12mm tweeter w/12mm tweeter 4 7/8" 124mm 4" 102mm 5 5/16" X 3 15/16" 151mm X 100mm 2" 4" 102mm 3 1/8" 79mm Mounting diameter Polk Audio, Inc.
