User Management function allows the administrator to create and delete user accounts, set limitations on the type of server services users are allowed, add new user accounts in batch, and manage user groups. When a new user account is created, the Server will automatically create an email account, an email address, an FTP account, a user's personal web page, and establish the network neighborhood. User Accounts Select Standard Settings > User Management > User Accounts to create the new user accounts and manage existing user accounts. To create a new user account, enter the related information in the User Name, Alias, Description, and Password fields. Refer to the New User Account section for detailed information of each field. Enter the number of Allowed Disk Space to restrict the disk space assigned to users. Click Modify to confirm. 31 The disk space allowed for each new user account includes the space for personal e-mail, FTP server and personal web Information page owned by each individual user. Click Export to export and save the created user account data in a specified destination. Before you import a user list, click Browse to specify the location of the desired list file, and click Import to restore the user list saved. To search for any specific user account information, enter the name of the user account you want to search in the blank box before the Search button, and press Search. Select Export/ Import to backup/ restore the related information of the created mail accounts, including the user account, alias, description, password, user group and etc. While an account password is being entered, the system will encrypt the password. Note that after all the mail accounts data are exported, the passwords for all accounts will be defaulted as 1111. Attention Alias: You can enter an alias in the field to use if you don't want the recipients to know your name. The option also helps to decrease the mail undeliverable failure cased by typos in the To field. For example, employee April's email address is april_Lee@xyz. com. If april is set as the alias for the account, when a sender enters the incorrect email address april@xyz. com in the To field, the mail can still reach the april_Lee@xyz. com mailbox without mistake. A co-worker of April only needs to enter april in the To field, the mail will be forwarded to the april_Lee@xyz. com mailbox. Because she wants to use another account to send mails, she enters the alias service. When a mail is addressed to service@xyz. com, the system will automatically send the mail to May's personal mailbox may_Lee@xyz. com. The alias account service@xyz. com can not be set to receive mails. 32 Service Permissions Select Standard Settings > User Management > Service Permissions to display Service Permission list, view the enabled and disabled services for each user and the valid days remaining for each allowed service. When the value is defaulted as 0, it means there is not limit for how long the user can use the selected services. Six types of service options of Mail, Web Mail, User Interface, FTP, Network Neighborhood, and Personal Web Page can be enabled or disabled according to user or networking demands. [. . . ] All domain names and passwords applied from PlusNet Dynamic DNS system can only be used on this Server since they cannot be used on other systems or PCs. Follow the steps below to apply for the free dynamic domain name from PlusNet. Launch the IE web browser and enter http://www. pn99. com in the URL field.
