Please read this manual before using the camera in order to get the most out of all the features and functions. Keep this manual safe, as it can be a valuable tool in helping you to understand all the camera's capabilities. Please take care, as there are even cases where limitations are placed on taking pictures even for personal enjoyment during demonstrations, performances or of items on display. The frame moves to [Number of Shot]. Set the number of shots. 1 Press the four-way controller (5). 2 Use the four-way controller (23) to set [Number of Shot], then press the four-way controller (5). The frame returns to [Number of Shot]. 4 Taking Pictures 7 8 Press the four-way controller (3). The frame moves to [Start Time]. Set the start time. 1 Press the four-way controller (5). 2 Use the four-way controller (23) to set the hour, then press the four-way controller (5). 3 Use the four-way controller (23) to set the minute, then press the four-way controller (5). The frame returns to [Start Time]. 9 10 11 Press the 4 button. The Interval Shoot setting is saved and the camera returns to capture status. Press the shutter release button halfway. The focus frame on the LCD monitor turns green if the subject is in focus. Press the shutter release button fully. Interval shooting starts. Press the power switch during standby to display the remaining number of pictures and interval on the LCD monitor. To cancel interval shooting, press the 3 button to display the message [Stop interval shooting] and then press the 4 button. Interval shooting is not available in C, O, Y, Q, C, or A mode. 79 1 ARACYq<IBQiC\ExQX>yP DNJzR Using the Zoom 4 Taking Pictures 80 You can use the zoom to change the captured area. 1 Press the Zoom/w/x button in A mode. x Tele : enlarges the subject w Wide : widens the area that is captured by the camera The zoom bar indicates the current level of magnification. Zoom bar 38 When the digital zoom function is set to P (Off), you can take pictures at up to three times magnification using the optical zoom. When the digital zoom function is set to O (On), you can combine it with the optical zoom to enlarge the subject to a maximum magnification equivalent to 12 times. Press x 38 Optical zoom Digital zoom range range · You are recommended to use a tripod to prevent camera shake when taking pictures at a high magnification rate. · Pictures taken in the digital zoom range appear grainier than pictures taken in the optical zoom range. Setting the Digital Zoom The digital zoom is set to O (On) in the default settings. To take pictures using only the optical zoom, set the digital zoom to P (Off). 1 2 3 4 Press the 3 button in A mode. The [A Rec. Mode] menu appears. Use the four-way controller (23) to select [Digital Zoom]. Use the four-way controller (45) to select O (On) or P (Off). The selected setting is saved. Rec. Use this function to take pictures that are intentionally overexposed or underexposed. 1 2 3 Press the 3 button in A mode. The [A Rec. Mode] menu appears. Rec. Mode 0. 0 EV Compensation AF AF Setting Movie Interval Shoot Digital Zoom MENU Exit 2/3 0. 0 Use the four-way controller (23) to select [EV Compensation]. Use the four-way controller (45) to select the EV value. The selected EV value is saved. You can choose the EV setting in the range of ­2. 0 EV to +2. 0 EV in 1/3 EV steps. 4 Press the 3 button. The setting is complete and the camera returns to capture status. · If you use the EV compensation function frequently, you can save time by assigning it to the Green button. (p. 58) · When the histogram is displayed, bright portions and dark portions are indicated on the LCD monitor, enabling you to check the exposure. (p. 84) · The EV compensation function cannot be used in y or A mode. Saving the EV Compensation Value 1p. 103 Displaying Shooting Information in Capture Mode The LCD monitor display changes in the following sequence each time you press the 4/W button: Normal Display, Histogram + Info, No Icons, Backlight Off.
