Turn the computer so that you can see and access the internal components. The grey data cable (IDE or SATA) and a power cable (with a white or black plug). Gently pull these cables out of the drive (hold by the connector and not the cable). You need to connect the cable so that the red or black stripe is next to the power cable. SATA data cables Connect the SATA data cables (grey or red) to the hard drive. You will notice it has an `L'-shaped connection and can only be fitted one way.
