[. . . ] User Manual -2- 1 1. 1 INSTALLING THE EASYBOOK M³ APPLICATION PC ENVIRONMENT The following paragraphs describe the basic characteristics required for correct operation of the Easybook M³ Digital Notepad® application. 1. 1. 1 Operating System The Easybook M³ Digital Notepad® application only runs in a PC environment and uses the digital pen (Anoto compatible) software that handles communications between pen and PC. The digital pen synchronization software must therefore be installed first on your computer BEFORE installing the Easybook M³ Digital Notepad application. The Easybook M³ Digital Notepad® works with a Nokia SU-1B or Logitech io digital pen. The Easybook M³ Digital Notepad® also requires that the following PC applications be installed to process your notes: · · · · · · Microsoft Outlook 2000-SR1 up to Service Pack 3* Microsoft Outlook XP up to Service Pack 3* Microsoft Outlook 2003 up to Service Pack 1* Lotus Notes 6. 0. x and Lotus Notes 6. 5. x Microsoft Word 2000, XP and 2003 Microsoft Excel 2000, XP and 2003 Windows 2000 up to Service Pack 4* Windows XP up to Service Pack 2** * The latest updates can be downloaded from the Microsoft website at http://www. microsoft. com/downloads/ ** Service Pack 2 for Windows XP may cause the digital pen software to hang up. [. . . ] Character recognition will be automatically applied to the underlined text to write it into the e-mail message's subject field. This option is available whether you choose to create a handwritten or digitized e-mail message. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU FOLLOW THE SEQUENCE OF ACTIONS SET OUT IN THIS PROCEDURE. Select the notes that you would like to send by e-mail by drawing a vertical line in the SELECTION margin. If you would like to create a digitized email message, circle the letter completely (refer to sub-section 9. 2). If you would like to specify an addressee, then write in the first two or three letters of the addressee's e-mail address in the ATTRIBUTE margin. Draw an L shaped line to select the one or more words that you would like to see become the subject of your e-mail message. The vertical line should "cover" the height of the word or the expression to be selected. The horizontal line must "cover" the length of the word or 'expression that you would like to select. Place the digital pen on its synchronization base to send the data to the PC. The Easybook M³ application will create the e-mail message specifying as the subject of the email message, the one or more underlined words. The one or more underlined words must all be on the same line. - 27 - 10 CREATING AN ACTION From your handwritten notes, you can create one or more actions (to do lists) by selecting the notes intended for this processing. You have the option of creating an action to remind you of a deadline. You have the option of creating an action for a third party by specifying the name of the person whom the task is intended for. N. B. : Before creating an action, we recommend opening your compatible PC mail application (Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes). 10. 1 Creating an Action for Myself 1. Choose the notes that you wish to treat as an action by drawing a vertical line in the Selection margin. If you wish to specify a deadline for the task, write down a date in DD/MM format in the Attribute margin. N. B. : You can perform these first three operations in any order, after entering your notes or while still entering them. Place the digital pen on its synchronization base to send the data to the PC. The Easybook M3 application will open your task manager on the PC to create a new action. There is no need to call up character recognition when creating a task, this is automatic. If you specified a folder in your page header, it will be retrieved to fill-in the CATEGORY field for the action created on the PC. The image of your handwritten notes will be inserted into the action comments. 10. 2 Sending an Action to be Done by a Contact 1. [. . . ] N. B. : You can perform these first three operations in any order, after entering your notes or while still entering them. Place the digital pen on its synchronization base to send the data to the PC. To retrieve your handwritten text, double-click on the new contact then on the IMAGE tab if you use MS Outlook or on the DOCUMENT HOLDER if you use Lotus Notes. 15. 2 Saving the New Contact with Their Name By default all of the contacts created on an Easybook M³ digital notepad page will be named with the initial of the surname (if entered in the Attribute margin) combined with the word "contact": <INTIAL_contact>.
