[. . . ] When the indicator is blinking, a print job is transferred to the machine. 5 Click the "Print" button or the "OK" button to begin printing. The print job will be delivered to the paper output tray. Important points when setting the paper size · Make sure that the tray's paper size setting is the same as the tray's paper size setting in the printer driver. For example, if the tray's paper size setting is A4R (8-1/2" x 11"R), set "Setting Paper Size" to "A4-R" ("Letter-R"). For more information, see "CONFIGURING THE PRINTER DRIVER" in the "Software Setup Guide". 29 PRINTER FUNCTIONS Pausing a print job To pause a print job during printing, press the [ON LINE] key ( ) on the operation panel to switch the machine off-line. To cancel a print job, press the [CLEAR] key ( ) or the [CLEAR ALL] key ( ). To resume printing, press the [ON LINE] key ( ) to switch the machine online. When "Use close paper size" is disabled The PAPER SIZE indicator on the operation panel will blink. Printing will also begin after the set auto clear time elapses, or after 60 seconds if "Auto clear time" is disabled. *3 The print job is paused and copying begins. 30 4 Note Chapter 4 USER SETTINGS This chapter explains how to set the automatic exposure level, toner save mode/high image quality mode, and the user programs, which are custom settings that control fine points of the machine's operation. ADJUSTING THE AUTOMATIC EXPOSURE LEVEL The exposure level used in automatic exposure adjustment, which automatically adjusts the copy exposure according to the original, can be adjusted. If copies tend to be too dark or too light when automatic exposure adjustment is used, follow the steps below to adjust the automatic exposure level. The automatic exposure level can be adjusted separately for the document glass and the SPF. The copy and printer cannot be used while the automatic exposure level is being adjusted. 1 To adjust the automatic exposure level in the SPF, place the original in the SPF. (p. 19) Make sure that the SPF indicator is lit. To adjust the automatic exposure level for copies made from originals placed on the document glass, proceed to step 2. 4 Press the [Light] key ( ) or [Dark] key ( ) to lighten or darken the automatic exposure level as desired. 135 Note 2 3 Press the [AUTO/TEXT/PHOTO] key ( AUTO / / ) to select "PHOTO" ( ). Hold down the [AUTO/TEXT/PHOTO] key ( AUTO / / ) until the AUTO indicator ( AUTO ) blinks. AUTO 5 Press the [AUTO/TEXT/PHOTO] key ( AUTO / / ) to complete the setting. Note After adjusting the automatic exposure level, it is recommended that you make a test copy to check the new level. 31 TONER SAVE MODE AND HIGH IMAGE QUALITY MODE Toner save mode can be enabled to reduce toner consumption by about 10%. The high image quality mode improves copy image quality in the automatic and manual exposure modes by increasing copy density with a slight increase of toner consumption. To switch between toner save mode and high image quality mode, follow the steps below. Note In Europe, high image quality mode is initially selected. In regions other than Europe, toner save mode is initially selected. 1 Press the [AUTO/TEXT/PHOTO] key ( AUTO / / ) to select "TEXT" ( ). Hold down the [AUTO/TEXT/PHOTO] key ( AUTO / / ) until the PHOTO indicator ( ) blinks.
