Press the Auto Dial key, and then enter the 3-digit Auto Dial number on the numeric keypad. Dial as you would on a normal telephone. Polling Transmission SELECT FUNCTION 5/GH POLLING NO BULLETIN POLL. OR YES 9. Your fax machine will begin sending the fax. Polling (Sending Documents Requested by Another Fax) When you normally send faxes, you load your document into your fax machine, select a location and, if required, press the Start key to begin sending the document. However, sometimes it is more useful to be able to simply load your document into your fax machine and set it to wait for the another fax machine to call and collect the document. This is called setting your fax machine to be polled, or polling transmission. Calling another fax machine to receive documents someone else has loaded into their fax machine is called polling reception. Standard polling is to an old standard that is used by many, but not all manufacturers and ITU 1. The display shows WAITING TO BE POLLED and your document remains in the document feeder until your fax machine has been polled. To cancel standard polling, simply remove your document. Note: Depending on the MEM/FEEDER SW setting, the unit can switch to polling stand-by after reading the memory. 5. For ITU bulletin polling, press the YES key and the display changes to PERSONAL BOX NO. Using the numeric keypad, enter the 2-digit number of the personal mailbox you want to use and press the YES key. 49 Your document is then scanned into the memory of your fax machine and the message BULLETIN MSG. IN MEM appears on the display. Note: If you get the message ILLEGAL OPERATION appearing on the display, then the personal mailbox you have selected is already in use as a confidential mailbox. If you get message OVER WRITE appearing on the display, then the personal mailbox you have selected is already in use for ITU bulletin polling. You can select another personal mailbox to use or over write the bulletin message already in the personal mailbox. After your fax machine has been polled and the document has been sent, your document remains in mailbox allowing the document to retrieved more than once. To cancel ITU bulletin polling transmission, close the mailbox using the following instructions. 4. Using the numeric keypad, enter the two-digit number of the mailbox you want to close and press the YES key. Press the NO key first and then press the YES key twice to close the mailbox. Printing Bulletin Messages SELECT FUNCTION 2/AB PRINT OPERATION. 1: PRINT MEMORY MSG? NO YES 1. The display shows PRINT PERSONAL BOX?. Canceling ITU Bulletin Polling Transmission SELECT FUNCTION 9/OP USER PROG. 4. Using the numeric keypad, enter the 2-digit number of the mailbox you want to print from and press the YES key. The message begins printing. Note: If no message is stored in that mailbox, the display shows NO DATA IN MEMORY. 3. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: FCC Telephone Consumer Protection Act The Federal Communications Commission Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 makes it unlawful for any person to use a computer or other electronic device to send any message via a telephone fax machine unless such message clearly contains in a margin at the top or bottom of each transmitted page or on the first page of the transmission, the date and time it is sent and an identification of the business or other entity, or other individual sending the message, and the telephone number of the sending machine or such business, other entity, or individual. · Increase the separation between the equipment and the receiver.
