[. . . ] If you have both a color scanner and a color printer, this checkbox is available to you. Click the Properties button to further fine-tune scanner and page refinement settings. For example, you might want to adjust scanner brightness, color depth, or resolution, or turn on or off some of the page refinement settings. For complete information about Properties, refer to "Changing default properties for scanned documents" earlier in this chapter. Make copies Use the following procedure to make copies: 1. If you have a scanner with an automatic document feeder, you can load a stack of pages. If you have a flatbed scanner, place the first page of the document on the platen. This starts up the Pagis Scan Tool with the Copier tab in front (refer to Figure 4­26). If you want to copy only a portion of the page, you can use the Prescan button. For information about using Prescan, refer to an earlier section, "Using Prescan to scan part of a document. " Using Pagis Pro 4­63 Contents Index 3. As the page is being scanned, a Copier Progress dialog box tracks scanning status. After the page is completely scanned, it is printed immediately and the Copier tab (refer to Figure 4­26) is redisplayed. However, if you have collation turned on, the page appears as Page 1 in the Copier Progress dialog box. Additional buttons are added to copy more pages or begin the printing phase of the copy process (Figure 4­27). If you would prefer to save the document, then copy (print) it later, use the Scanner Tab to scan the document to a XIF document on your system. When you are ready to print it, open the document in the Pagis Editor, and select the Print command from the File menu. Faxing documents In Pagis Pro, faxing a document involves scanning the original document; optimizing image quality; and sending the image(s) to your fax software (for example WinFaxTM Pro). After Pagis Pro sends the image to your fax software, you specify the fax phone number and send the fax as you ordinarily would. Refer to the documentation that came with your fax software for additional instructions. Please read this section for step-by-step procedures to: x x x Select a fax printer Set up the fax job Fax a document Select a fax printer A fax modem connected to a computer generally uses front-end software (for example, WinFaxTM Pro) that simulates a printer driver. This is how the fax software creates the bitmap images of the document pages that it sends out. You select your fax printer the same way you select any printer connected to your system. [. . . ] The scanner driver sends requests from the application to the scanner in a language the scanner can understand. search database--In Pagis Pro, a folder of special files that is created to keep track of (index) scanned and electronic documents in all or part of a user's Windows file system. A Pagis search database contains information about the contents and location of files, as well as any author, title, or keyword assigned to the files. By using the index and the Pagis Search Tool, you can easily search and retrieve documents. [. . . ]
