[. . . ] OmniPage Pro Version 6 for Macintosh Reference Manual 1 Reference How to Use the Documentation Please read the Release Notes before installing OmniPage Pro. The notes include up-to-date lists of supported scanners, compatible file formats, and any last minute information concerning the current release of OmniPage Pro. Use this Reference manual to find specific information about any OmniPage Pro feature. It describes all the commands and settings, how to use the editor, how to improve performance, and how to troubleshoot common problems. [. . . ] Any area of the image that is not part of a zone will not be recognized. 3 Commands and Settings 3-35 The Process Menu To resize zones: 1 2 3 Click the Draw Zones tool. Select a handle, hold the mouse button down, and drag the mouse in the direction that you want to enlarge or reduce the zone. The Draw Zones tool is disabled if there are any automatically drawn zones on the image. Hold down the mouse button and drag the mouse where you want to move the zone. Only the zone borders can be moved; the contents of the page image remain in the same place. To order zones for recognition: 1 2 3 4 Click the Order Zones tool. To reorder zones, click the Order Zones tool again. 3-36 Commands and Settings The Process Menu To erase zones: 1 2 Click the Erase Zones tool. To erase all zones at once, double-click the Erase Zones tool. Zone Drag and Drop OmniPage Pr supports Apple's Drag and Drop functionality on systems that have it installed (as a separate extension or as part of System 7. 5). You can drag zones from the image window to the desktop (or another application that supports Drag and Drop) where they will be converted to 75 dpi line-art PICT files. You can drag images from the text window to the desktop where they will be converted to PICT files at the quality they were scanned in. For example, a grayscale image dragged from the image window will create a low-res, line-art PICT. Assigning Zone Contents Files For better recognition accuracy, you can assign zone contents files to the zones that you draw in a page image. For example, if your image has a paragraph of text followed by a table of numbers, you can draw separate zones around each and assign an All Characters zone contents file to the paragraph and a Numerics zone contents file to the table. To assign zone contents files to zones: 1 2 Click within a zone to select it. Select the appropriate zone contents file in the Zone Contents pop-up menu. 3 Repeat steps one and two for any other zones you wish. You can change a zone contents assignment at any time before recognition. Commands and Settings 3-37 The Process Menu To zoom in or out on a page image: 1 2 Click the Zoom tool. Option-click the area to zoom out (reduce the image). To rotate a page image: Click the Arrow buttons to rotate the entire page image 90 degrees counter-clockwise, 180 degrees, or 90 degrees clockwise. You can change the Manual Zones command to Auto Zones in the Process Settings submenu or the Zone button pop-up menu. command in the Process Settings submenu or select a template directly in the Zone button popup menu. Use Zone Template. . . Choose Use Zone Template. . . A zone template file can have up to 64 zones that determine what will be recognized in the page image. It is comprised of various zone attributes such as position, order, and zone contents. If you frequently process documents with layouts and content that require the same type of zoning, you can save a zone template and apply it to all such documents. You can create zones manually and save them as a zone template using the Save Zone Template. . . If zones are drawn automatically, you can select only one Zone Content file for all zones on the page. 3-38 Commands and Settings The Process Menu To select a zone template: Select a zone template directly in the Zone button pop-up menu. A dialog box appears listing all zone template files in the Zone Templates folder. 2 3 Click the zone template that you want to use for the current page image.
