[. . . ] Neptune WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM Fourth & Fifth Pump Option (Sprite WT) Neptune Controller Reference Manual CM-700 Series Copyright 2004 Nova Controls, Inc. P/N 20-07788-00 Rev. H 1 Theory of Operation Overview This chapter describes the theory of operation and the features of the Neptune Water Treatment Controller. When the probe indicates a low solution level in the tank, Neptune automatically doses up to three chemicals into the tank and fills it with water up to the appropriate level. When the probe indicates a high solution level in the tank, the solenoid closes and shuts off the water fill. [. . . ] When a pump is running, the corresponding zero in the Neptune's display shows segments rotating clockwise. Pumps (and fill) can run individually, or more than one pump (and fill) can run at the same time. If pumps 1 and 2 are running simultaneously, the left zero and the second-to-left zero will both cycle clockwise until the pumps stop running. When the solenoid valve (fill) is running, the right dash (the fill) flashes until the water shuts off. Error Status Indicators See "Troubleshooting, "Error Messages" on page 24 for full error handling information. Errors must be cleared before Neptune can continue to run. Time-To-Fill Error (t. Err) The tank fill has taken longer than the programmed limit or there is a problem with the upper probe float. Formula Error (F. Err) A formula cannot be selected or run--the formula may need to be set up again. Calibration Error (C. Err) A formula cannot be selected or run--the unit may need to be calibrated. P/N 20-07788-00 Rev. H 15 Probe Float Operation The Neptune Probe Float Assembly includes two probe floats that are mounted on a stir stick, along with a safety shut-off float. The upper probe float detects when the solution tank is full and the lower probe float detects when it needs to be refilled. The safety shut-off (water tank float ball) provides water shut off in the unlikely event that the upper probe float fails to turn off the water. The safety shut-off is adjusted so that it sits high enough above the upper probe float to allow the upper probe float to engage first. (See both Figure 13 (below) and Figure 6"Probe Float Assembly, Mounted in Water Tank" on page 7 for illustrations of probe operation. Stir Stick Water Tank Float Ball (Safety Shut-off) Upper Probe Float Shuts off water if upper probe float fails. Lower Probe Float Stops water fill and prevents Fill Time Error (t. Err). Triggers water fill and pumps. Figure 13 Probe Float Operation If AutoStart (ASt. ) is set to Y = yes (factory default), the formula starts when the probe indicates a low tank level. If AutoStart is set to n = no (Manual Start), the probe will not initiate the start of a formula unless the operator has pressed ENTER at power on. In the case of a power interruption, the operator must again press ENTER when the power resumes. A flashing display indicates that Neptune is not ready to begin operation, and may result from an interruption and resumption of power while in Manual Start mode. Setup Mode Access Setup Mode allows the installer to program operating parameters, including pump dispense and run times. Setup Mode access requires a password, as explained in the "Setup Mode" section. To reach the password entry screen from the Select Formula Home Screen (Fr-A), press and hold ENTER for two seconds. Enter the password as described in "Password Entry" on page 19. Normal operation resumes after all setup programming is complete and the controller is put back into Run Mode. 16 P/N 20-07788-00 Rev. H 5 Setup Mode Overview This chapter describes how to program the high level functions of the Neptune. In this chapter, you will learn to how to set the following functions: · · · · · · · · · · Password Entry into Setup Mode Pump/Fill Prime (Pr) User Prime Enable (UPr) User Formula Select Enable (UFr) Formula Time Edit (FE) - Pump Volume vs. Time Fill Time Limit (FILL) AutoStart on Power Up (ASt. ) Solenoid Type Identification (FC) Pump Sequence Edit (S. 1-F) Change Password (PASS) Use the menu screen illustrations (Figure 14 on page 18) as a guide when learning to program the Neptune. The main Setup screens are in a circular loop so you can always return to any screen within the loop by pressing the Next key. Note Note After 5 minutes of idle time in Setup Mode, the display returns to the Run Mode Formula Select screen. P/N 20-07788-00 Rev. [. . . ] Visual check of tank to verify that controller display indicates actual tank solution condition. Pump Tube Replacement Replace pump tubes at regular maintenance intervals, well before the tube fails and ruptures. In the event that the tube does rupture, clean all product from the pump with a damp cloth. · Loosen the pump front captive screw and remove the pump front. · Remove the old tube with barbed connectors and compression nuts.
