Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (Including amplifiers) that produce heat. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet. [. . . ] To listen to music th rough th e earphone, firs t use the VOLUM E CONT ROL on t he left side of t he main unit to lower the volume t o the min imum le vel, then adjust t he volume to comfo rtable le vel. Be c areful no t to set the volum e to too high lev el when using ea rphone. Main unit left side Earphone To EARPHONE jack Notes: Insert the earphone plug securely. No noisy sound will be heard if the earphone is securely connected. VOLUME Note : It is impos sible to hear the sound o f DTS-compatible DVDs over earphone. So do not listen to su ch discs through e arphone. MOBILE ENTERTAINMENT 27 ENG USING THE BATTERY R echa r ging the batte r y pa ck R echargi ng the battery pa ck as described below. Co nnec t the DC ou tput plug of AC adap ter t o the batte r y pa ck. Co nnec t the AC ad apte r to t he po wer o utlet . When rechargin g starts, the rech arge LE D lights i n red. Rechar ging usu ally com pletes in about 4 ~5 hours . The battery pa ck can b e used f or about 300 cycl es of rec harging and ope rations, thoug h this is v ariable dependi ng on the operati ng conditions. Charg e the ba ttery pac k fully before usi ng it for the first t ime. CAUTION Place the battery pack and AC adapter on a flat surface f or recharging. Do not short-ci rcuit the terminals of the battery pack and AC adap ter. N otes: T he batte ry charg er(AC ad apter) is compat ible with supply v oltage b etween 1 00 and 2 40 V AC and can be used universally. W hen you want to use it on an over seas tra vel, how ever, be sure to p repare a power p lug adap ter matc hing the local po wer outl et. MOBILE ENTERTAINMENT USING THE BATTERY ENG 28 Notes for re charging W hen the battery pack is h ot, it ma y take lo nger tim e than us ual for r echargin g o r may so metimes be unab le to be recharged. Wait for the b attery pa ck to cool d own before retry ing recha rging. If the rech arge LE D can no t be lit, c heck wh ether the AC ada pter and battery p ack are connecte d firmly to have perfect c ontact. To protec t the batt ery pack , do not recharge a fully c harged battery p ack repeatedl y. T he batte ry pack b ecomes hot afte r recharging, but this is n ot malfunction. T he batte ry pack m ay not b e recha rged full y if recha rging at a hot pla ce. D o not recharge it under very hot e nvironm ent, it ma y cause explosion. T he surro unding t emperat ure durin g recha rging aff ects the recharge efficien cy. R echarge the bat tery p ack at a place wi thin this tempera ture rang e whenever pos sible. At tachi ng th e bat ter y p ack to the play er At tach the battery pack to the player as des cribed b elow. Attach the battery pack to the unit. Align the guide hole of the player with the guide rod on the battery pack. Turn the battery knob clockwise until the battery pack is tighten with the player. Now the player can be operated. If the battery pack is fully recharged, the player can play DVDs continuously for over 3 hours. MOBILE ENTERTAINMENT 29 ENG USING THE BATTERY If the power is switched on while the battery pack is not fully charged, the player operation may sometimes become unstable. The battery pack is being recharged slowly while the player is playing with AC adapter connected. The battery pack is being recharged as recharged separately while the player is at STAND BY mode with AC adapter connected. [. . . ] SPDIF / PCM: Choose this setting if your DVD player is connected to a 2channel digital stereo amplifier. When playing a disc recorded with Dolby Digital and MPEG audio formats, audio signals will be modulated into a 2-channel PCM signal, and it will be outputted from the Optical Output jack .
