[. . . ] NEC PowerMate® Desktop Computers Installing a Zip Drive Use the following procedures to install a ZipTM drive in your PowerMate desktop computer. Note Use the following procedures along with option installation information in your printed NEC PowerMate user's guide. [. . . ] See your PowerMate user's guide for other IDE configurations. Zip Drive Installation Use the following procedure to install the Zip drive. 1. 2. Remove the system unit cover and front panel (see your PowerMate user's guide). Remove the 3 1/2-inch accessible drive bracket from the chassis as follows. T Disconnect the drive power and signal cables from the diskette drive. Installing the Zip Drive 1 T T Press in on the tabs on the sides of the bracket to unlatch it from the chassis (see the following figure). Pull the bracket out of the front of the chassis. Removing the 3 1/2-inch accessible drive bracket A ­ Drive Bracket 3. B ­ Bracket Tab (left side) Access the empty drive slot as follows. T T T Unlatch the bracket cover by pressing the two side tabs inward. To access the tabs, reach behind the front metal shield (see the following figure). Remove the blank panel from the bracket cover by pressing the panel tabs from inside the cover and pushing the panel out. Knock out the metal breakaway panel from the drive bracket front shield with a screwdriver. Replace the bracket cover on the drive bracket (press in the tabs and align the tabs and four posts with the openings in the metal shield).
